Huh, I lived there 30 years and had a very different experience than you. You're right about the coast being great, but only in specific spots.

The cities, Orlando, Tallahassee, Miami, Tampa, are all pretty chit and full of raging libs but the small towns are pretty great. Not too many spots in the country you can spend Friday night having a bonfire and eating fresh gator before tearing up back roads on your ATVs then wake up Saturday and spend the day scalloping or fishing for redfish, and top it off by floating down crystal clear water in a tube Sunday while sipping a beer.

I spent most of my time in the alachua, Gilchrist and Dixie county area fwiw. Loved my time there just left after I'd done everything as man could do so it was time to move on.

You should check out the trash bash on memorial day at ginnie springs in Florida then. Basically a few hundred rednecks camping and tubing the river for 3 days straight. Just get a couple of friends, a few girls, tents, chairs and a cooler with plenty of beer. Can't beat it if you like the trashy crowd, I used to go every year.

I live in Miami and my neighborhood is conservative and completely safe to the point you can leave your doors unlocked when you go out.

You can see DeSantis and or Trump signs on yards or cars.
