Is going to the doctor bad for your health most of the time? (Srs thread)

I know so many people that go to the doctor for minor things, then immediately get prescribed medicine whose side effects are 10x worse than the thing they came in for, while still not even completely fixing it. JFL

Doctors are gatekeepers and pill pushers 98% of the time. Only go to see one if I know I need a prescription for something or a referral to a specialist.

It's like going to a mechanic. You can easily learn how to diagnose or fix most of the problems on your own

The only reason I would go is to use their equipment or get a second opinion. Apart from being completely mangled or on death's door

Don't go to an appointment with no knowledge or you can be taken advantage of. Doctors are no different than the rest of us, lots are corrupt or incompetent

My family doctor literately got rid of me and a bunch of other patients of hers, including my dad, because we don’t go and see her enough…wtf. She kept my mom as a patient tho because she goes to see her a lot.

Sad.

Lots of people don't understand that it's a business. They think doctors are these mythical do gooders who are here to sacrifice their lives to help others.

Yeah, doctors know nothing. They spent years in medical school and various residency placements only to learn precisely fuk all.

Best come to the misc to let medical experts here give you sound, evidence-based advice.

I only go to the doctor for yearly physical and blood test. Unless, I'm feeling completely out of whack I'd rather go to the ER.

it's kind of sad tbh....

healthcare expenditure in the USA as a percentage of GDP hasdoubledsince 1990, and life expectancy is actually going down lmao.

there are some blatantly obvious winners in medicine, but they have done studies that show something like 60%+ of the stuff being done has not actually increased life expectancy to it's patients.

If you know someone who is on 7 different prescriptions and feels like absolute chit 24/7, you know exactly what I mean.

go read the book "ending medical reversal" and have your mind blown to bits.

Tbf most people want a pill instead of changing their behavior.

Unless we are talking about some acute infection or something of that nature a lot of symptoms being managed via medication are self inflicted, to some extent.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

10 years is way to long.
Quick story.
One of the 5 best friends from high schools wife died at 40.
She had sudden bleeding and got really sick one weekend and was rushed to the hospital.
Fit young mom with 2 kids and worked for Booz Allen but she neglected her own healthcare even though she ate healthy.
Long story short...... Cancer all over internally....... and nothing they could do, so she passed away 1 month later.
Best friend is a single dad raising 2 kids under 10.

Yep, so many illnesses are preventable or heal with prayers, fasting, lifestyle changes that people are too lazy or deceived to educate themselves about.

For example, During school, the doctors that I followed prescribe antibiotics for a cold even though it’s most likely viral. The doctor states that he doesn’t recommend anything but prescribe meds anyways because most patients want drugs so he does it to appease their anxiety even though they don’t need it. If he doesn’t give them any drugs some people will complain and think that he’s inept.

Wouldn’t advise taking any pharmaceutical drugs if you can help it. Literally poison.

I actually go to the CVS minute clinic to get my basic health screen; blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose check. My insurance covers it all. I just wish they offered a testosterone/free testosterone check. I don't know why NY makes it so damn hard for men to check their test levels. Even doctors give you a hard time if you ask for a hormonal panel. I'd have an easier time getting drugs transitioning from male to female than getting my free testosterone levels checked.

Doctors treat symptoms/illnesses/disease with the best tools they have at their disposal and what been taught. Often that's prescribing a pill because people will not change life-style/dietary habits.

There are good doctors and there are bad doctors. But in general when you get a major diagnosis you always get a second opinion from another DR/specialist. Furthermore, whether you're a juiced up guy looking to use/get anabolics legally under a doctors supervision. Or a pill abusing house-wife that wants to doctor shop and get a bunch of pills to abuse. Its really not 'that' hard to find multiple doctors that will prescribe you pretty much anything you want.

My personal doctor recommends the C19 vaccine and thinks its safe. I and a couple of family members have had surgeries from specialists in the last couple of years. None of our surgeons and their PA's/Nurses are vaccinated/believe in the vax.

Not all doctors/medical professionals are on the same page with everything. Some are pretty much willing to just toss out scripts. Some aren't.

absolutely yes

I for the most part have, but going forward will avoid doctors unless its life limb or eyesight. We knew they were mostly robots, but since 2020 they've been completely, publicly exposed as big pharma sales reps.

Will avoid doctors/hospitals at all costs crew. Forever

Miscers will go from being virology experts and epidemiologists to war strategists and political analysts to fully licensed medical doctors with full privileges all in the span of one weekend from the comfort of their own dingy basements, sitting in their unwashed boxers. Ironically, the one thing they are not experts at whatsoever is lifting.

Its not healthy to go to the doctore for every little thing.

Would you take your car to the mechanic for every little thing when you can just tighten this or that yourself? of course not. Same thing with the doctor.

Imagine you took a brand new perfectly good working car to the shop and insisted there was something wrong. Eventually they will "find" something wrong and you will get a fat bill to fix it.

Same with the doctor.

I think you should only go when you cant fix it yourself. Like a broken bone or surgery or stuff like that. If they just give you tylenol, you wasted everyones time.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
