Lol, I thought the US recommendations were funny as well. One of the biggest dead giveaways that someone is a pleb is that they're afraid to travel outside of the US.

OP said he's only going somewhere for a a week or two, which IMO is too short for Thailand. Flying there is 15ish hours and you typically feel like chit for a day or two after. Maybe if there for the full two weeks it could work.
