Got invoices of $60 worth of tolls and its not my plate

Searched up the plate number and its not a vehicle I use to own either but its all under my name. I sold a truck earlier this year and for the first time I gave the seller my plates for the time after selling my vehicle don't know why guess I was in a rush. Maybe they transferred plates?

Still dealing with charges on my deceased mother's vehicle. Tried to reverse the charges via the credit card company again.

Received a form letter stating that they have concluded that I am liable for the charges because the vendor says the service was never cancelled.

Pretty tough for a dead person to cancel a service. She died nearly 3 years ago now and I've made multiple attempts to resolve this including submitting her death certificate.

Yeah I done messed up. Ive sold vehicles before and never done that as soon as he handed me the cash and drove off I knew I messed up. Left my 10 mm socket to take off the plate in the truck too. Smh

One would think they could easily look up who the new plates are registered to. Does this mean they never registered the vehicle if you got the bill?

Do you have any information about the prior owner? I personally wouldn't pay, because likely this isn't your last bill.

It sounds like you scrapped your plates when you sold your vehicle but now you discovered that someone is fraudulently using them.

You might have to file a police report now that you found out. *Wink*

Where I live, you want to turn them in to the DMV to a get pro-rated refund of your registration fees.

There should also be a bill of sale that would match the registration VIN. I'd send that as proof that you don't own the vehicle.
