The 'extreme left' or 'far left' or whatever you want to call them ARE liberals, they are a subset of all liberals. You are also a liberal. You are different subsets of the same set, but ultimately referring to either of you as a liberal is accurate.

Would calling them far left, or something different help? Perhaps, but when the misc talk about 'liberals' you know exactly what they mean and you're largely arguing semantics. But the left do the exact same thing and label all 'right wingers' or 'conservatives' together when in fact, just like liberals, conservatives is a huge set with many sub-sets. The fact you've framed this as a thing right wingers do to left wingers, rather than just something that happens in political discussion is laughable.

In fact, your candidates that held power were actual KKK members, high ranking ones (Robert Byrd). Your presidential candidate Clinton embraced, hugged, kissed, and called the KKK member a 'great mentor'.
