Car insurance question

Parked car was rear ended. there was a police report of what happened as the other driver was there. not sure of their insurance status.

quick details:

**insurance adjuster came to look at the damages, based on "visual" damages: ~ 3000$ (-500 deductible)

i thought this was low and went to one of their affiliated body shops for a "private estimate" instead of through insurance because i'd need an appt.

** body shop rep estimated visual damages to be ~3500$. but said if i go through insurance, this can change.

$500 deductible is now waived. I asked if they can just cut a check for the damages from their adjuster for the amount of $3k (car is old and owned outright). will try to bring to a small mom and pops.

Told me to bring the car back to the affiliated autobody for more pics since it's a different process now ( now thinking they are trying to bs).

The autobody now quotes visible damages to be $2300 (-500 deductible)

tell me this isn't some bs or am i wrong.

These are just estimates. They're going to pay for what it actually costs to fix it. If you're worried you'll get shafted and left with the bill, take it to one of your insurance company's in network repair facilities and they'll simply fix it and bill your insurance company

Don't fuk around with any body shops either their insurance or yours suggests. Look up a shop that does quality work regardless of insurance reps and go there.
