Depends on the grind and if it’s parcooked. I’m sure parcooked grits (similar process to instant oatmeal or minute rice) would be done in 5 mins. Most grits cooks in like 45mins-hour. 20mins seems severely undercooked. The grind I buy I like to rest it after it’s cooked so process takes like 2 hours before I’m willing to add butter or cream.
