Do you plan on paying for your kids college?

Is this your plan? Or are you basically giving it a "fuk it figure it out" type of feeling.

I feel like alot of posters on here had some version of help from their parents and want to see if y'all are gonna do the same to your seed

Gotta sit with him/her and undestand if thats really his/her vocation.

If yes, then I will. If no, then I won't.



I will not force them to get a college degree and I will not allow them to waste my money so they can "experience the college life" or be able to tell everybody they have superior education.


If they want to go to college just for the sake of it... they can just fuk off.




If the college degree they want sucks (arts, female studies, african studies, sociology,...) , they gonna be paying for it themselves aswell.

I had scholarships for soccer and academics that paid for about half. My parents helped pay about 25% and I came out with 25% which was 25k. (about 100k+ for 4 years). I didn't even ask them or expect them too, but thankful they did.

My kids however, won't get money from me for college. Why? Because college is now a waste of money. College is a scam now. Tuition averages something like a 7% inflation yearly, and more kids go to college making college degrees less valuable due to the basic law of scarcity.

I will however help my children start any business venture or help put them in a position to make money and better their lives. They will also always have a place at home if they are in a bad position. Family is huge for me. But I won't give money or pay for something that is a poor financial decision and quite frankly a possible poor life decision. If they want to go that path then they can make that decision and deal with the financial path of it.

Didn't get an ounce of help nor was I encouraged.

I will set aside a small fund to assist my kiddo(s) through community college, however I will make sure they work a job of some sort so they can also contribute themselves.

Parents often go to extremes when it's not even necessary.

My parents paid for my college.

It depends on a few factors. What they're going to school for, their behavior, work ethic, etc.

If I have a daughter who becomes a raging liberal and wants a woman's studies degree.. she's on her own.

If she wants to get a degree in mechanical engineering, I'll pay for the whole thing.. same for a good degree like nursing that pays well.

Id rather help with a down payment for a house though.

No e brag but I have a few million invested. I'd never buy my kids stupid material ****..but I'd spend all my money investing in things that better their skills or life.

That's on him. It is a known that you accrue 200-300k+ in student loans. Their salary is dependent on what they go into and is usually pretty high. Also depends on what discipline. But that isn't a financial investment I would make as a parent. That's like 10-12 years of schooling and training. It's an admirable job, but financially I wouldn't make the investment for the return. He'd be more than welcome to stay at my house to pay it off quickly with his salary over 2 or 3 years if possible.

There's guys that make a doctors salary starting a deck or shed building business for way less overhead and just scale correctly.

It's really not difficult to afford a college education in the United States dude, low IQcels just gripe about it because it requires you apply yourself. Between grants, scholarships, Post 9/11 GI Bill, federally guaranteed and secured loans, brainless campus jobs, paid research positions that are directly related to your major, etc. there are countless ways to pay for a college education if you make decent grades and study something that the job market actually needs.

Most engineering firms will hire undergrads to do some administrative and/or low stakes job just on the basis that when they finish their degree they will already have recruited them. And that's common as phuck in so many actual industries.

If a sloot is trying to major in Lesbian Dance Theory at Bryn Mawr though, yeah, she's gonna sink herself into a ton of meaningless debt that whatever low T beta she cucks in to marrying her is gonna have to pay off. Those are the only people complaining about the "student loan trap".

Yea while that's true, that is for average paying jobs. A lot of them useless. If it is about making money, a kid can start a business as make way more money with way less overhead. I'll pay for a degree from an in state public or my alma mater. If they get a scholarship they can have the money and if they pick a more expensive school they can make up the difference.

I worked my way through 3 degrees without loans and my parents paid for nothing but textbooks once ($300). I want my kids to have more opportunities than me and this is one way of providing that.

I wish I could pay for my sons college. If I had the money I absolutely would. We're doing everything we can to make sure he's smart about everything so he doesn't end up with student loan debt.

Yes absolutely. My oldest wants to go to MIT for engineering and I have the money set aside if he wants to go and gets in. My youngest is too young to say what he wants to do but he is very good at video editing at 9 so maybe he wants to do that. Either way I’ll pay for his.

No one paid for mine or my wife’s. But I’ll pay for theirs because I want them to be well educated and not have that kind of debt.
