Simplistic Cutting

Any of you guys ever have a successful cut just doing the bare minimum, even if it's more costly?

I LOVE to cook and consider myself quite good at it. But right now I have a high level exec job that requires a lot of time and I seriously need to lose weight fast and now. Been boozing hard and eating like garbage all plandemic. In the same time frame my career acceleration picked up (good thing, but more hours).

Put on a bunch of weight, bad cholesterol through the roof, triglycerides through the roof, high blood pressure, etc. I'm basically a bloatmaxxer PL build. I look like a miniature Eddy Hall before he cut down for boxing.

Quitting booze this week which will be a big help.

But onto food. Once I drop some weight I'll get back to cooking healthy meals and all that, but I feel like I need to go as simple as F'ing possible to get that first that first 30-40 lbs off.

Was at Whole Foods today and they have these Organic Rotisserie Chickens with no nitrates. They also have whole marinated organic turkey breasts. I'm thinking I just go simple AF and buy a few of those each week and throw potatoes and veggies into the air fyer or microwave rice. On days I can't bear to eat that, I go to Chipotle for a double or triple meat bowl. Still hit macros.

I know this will get expensive, but fortunately I can afford it and I need to start dropping weight ASAP. Heart disease, diabetes, and cancer all run strong through the family.

For the record, I do IF. 2 meals a day. The morning is easy. Either a huge smoothie filled with fruit, veg, protein powder and some hard boiled eggs over arugula.... or a giant scramble of potatoes, eggs, meat, veggies.

Tracking cals at around 2,200, 65g fat, 200g carb w/ 40g fiber, and 200g protein.

Yep.

Won't lie, crime is bad and getting worse. But you know how it goes. Keep your head on a swivel and stay out of certain areas... and stay out of what used to be good areas after a certain time.

I used to do Xsport too. Hit up the Old Town one at North and Wells for years. Now I do FFC in Lincoln Park and a local small gym i can walk to. More money but way worth it for less people and higher quality people (and way more clean).

Intuitive eating works pretty good if you can focus on it and be honest with yourself

That's what I'm looking for.

I've cut a ton of times... but it's usually just to drop 10-15 lbs and summer shred. And because I love to cook I can creative with meals and make great low cal dishes.... but this time around I have a lot more weight to drop and am working more than ever and need to drop quick. Of course not a "crash diet" but a diet that is easy and convenient and I won't stray from.

I bought one of those whole foods rotisserie chickens earlier today and ripped a bunch of meat off, chopped a potato, and baby broccoli with seasoning and threw all that in the air fryer for 10 min. Used low sugar bbq sauce and it was delicious. In 10 min with no effort. Made me think... damn, I should do variations of this sh!t like this everyday for a few months and will probably drop 30 lbs.

I do intuitive eating when maintaining.

If I am cutting I like to track every cal and macro.
I've been around the block enough to know what 1 cup of rice looks like, 1 tbsp of olive oil, 8 oz lean meat, etc... but I ironically get more OCD about things if I don't track on a cut.

When it comes to a rotisserie chicken I'd weigh breast meat and dark meat separately for accurate tracking. Again, my health markers are sad... I can't afford to not be accurate with this.

A lot of stuff that was almost entirely relegated to the South and West sides are now spilling over into nicer areas. That used to happen once in a while, but now it's daily.

Streeterville.is mostly quiet but State st and Michigan Ave are filled drug addicts and homeless and the scum of the south side raid stores around there weekly on crime sprees.

Might not impact you directly if you're not a store owner, but it often ends up with them fleeing at 100 mph blowing red lights and stop.signs in one of the busiest parts of the city. I'm surprised more pedestrians don't end up killed, but that's also probably why Chicago cops were ordered not to pursue fleeing vehicles for "low level crimes" like armed car jackings and $100k merchandise theft from stores that tourists visit lmao.

- 4 people shot in the loop at like 11 PM.
- Highways shootings every other day
- Armed car jackings are in every neighborhood... don't care where you live.
- CTA mugging on the north side daily

Honestly, all this stuff has always happened in the nicer areas. The problem is it used to happen once in a while and now it's daily. Everything changed after BLM riots and the Mayor telling cops to stand down. It's never been the same since.
And the DA refuses to prosecute anything. So cops are demoralized and don't bother.

A tough on crime DA, a mayor with half a brain, and incentives for new cops to join the force would have half these problems fixed within a year.

Sadly, the city is still way better than LA, SF, NY, Portland, etc... from homeless and crime perspective.

We have a ton of murder, but still, the vast majority takes place in the side and west side hell holes and many will never see real violent crime if they live in nice neighborhoods.

that's terrible. if Chicago remained how it was prepandemic I could've seen myself settling down there for life. streeterville/river north/old town were just incredibly beautiful places to live.

I have a job interview for a position next to grant park.. rethinking that opportunity now that you've mentioned all this.

I don't ride the CTA, don't have a car, and don't go on the highway.. so I suppose the only risk is getting shot while walking around.
It's definitely worse than pre-pandemic. Like I said, it all went to total sh!t after BLM. Once degens were given the go-ahead to burn, loot, and murder, and the Mayor told the cops to "stand down" the city has not recovered.

Don't get me wrong, I live in a nice area and especially during the summer it's an awesome city. But more so than ever (even in nice areas) I get approached by drug addicts while getting gas. I have my head on a swivel at all times. I used to get I to aggressive road rage stuff when someone drove like an idiot... now, NO WAY! 90% chance that person is an astronaut and will pull a gun on you. Gotta leave 10 feet between you and the car in front of you (recommend by news stations) so if you get approached in a car jacking you can flee.

Great city, but liberal policies that were once annoying are now legitimately putting your safety and financial security at risk.
Many I know have left.

I have to stay for personal.reasons but if not for that I doubt I'd stay. I moved away for a few years in 2012 and came back because I missed it. The city I missed and came back for isn't the city that currently exists.

Considering buying a house in the suburbs outside of the city county (Cook). Never thought I'd say that.

You know how it goes though. People that haven't lived in a real metropolitan city will.read this and think you get shot when you leave your house. You're fine 99.9%.of the time if.you stay out of certain neighborhoods, get home at a reasonable hour, and have some good luck. Rent/buy in a decent neighborhood, look like you lift and you're not to be fcked with, stay off the CTA (especially at night) and keep your head on a swivel and you'll be fine.

All being said... don't be surprised if you end up a victim of armed robbery and battery. And don't be surprised if they never catch the person - even with video. And on the miracle they do catch them, just know that person(s) won't do time and will be let out within 48 hours (srs).
