Why do people even bother with other brands of atvs? Those pos with belt drives never last….

Every honda i've ever been on has the ride quality and feel of the 1980s pos we keep fixing up to use at work. Awful.

Just sold my 2012 500 for more than I paid, and selling my 2014 570 EFI soon for a new 570 trail EPS. Expecting more than I paid again.

I use my ATVs as daily drivers to and from work, and let me tell ya...so much more to it than the fact that the engines keep running.

Yes, I trap and hunt and use my stuff hard, and I will never own a Honda.

The reason folks buy Polaris and Can-Am is the same reason folks buy other vehicles than Toyotas.

Honda ATV's ride like total garbage compared to Polaris / Can-Am, have laughably small displacement / low output engines, and are ridiculously overpriced for the stone age features (solid rear axle, drum brakes, halogen lights, manual mechanical shifting, full time 4WD, limited travel / ground clearance, lack of factory optioned packages, etc).

The atv market is absolutely trash rn . Dummies are paying over msrp…, but it’s not just the engines.. it’s the entire atv that doesn’t quit. Plus no belts, they just work.

Most people buy can am bc they are flashy and go fast… that Honda will still be around 30 years from now the other brands… not sure. Straight axle is superior in many situations for an atv.

I wasnt asked this, but I think I replaced one at 4000 miles preemptively.

The starter relays like to not work when its cold. Thinking ahead, I bought one from a Honda. Same deal. They get moisture in them for some reason, and then don't want to engage at anything below about -15.

I got these really expensive hermetically sealed ones and those did it.

I have noticed that Polaris especially are way more popular up north . I live in Alaska but I’m originally from the Southern east coast and no one has them . Only Hondas maybe some Suzuki or Kawasaki. All though can am are becoming more popular. Do you own a sxs?

Agreed. Same with outboard motors. It is the first time in my life buying new makes way more sense.

As for everything not wearing out, everything made can fail. Have seen a chit ton of electrical issues with Hondas.

Are Polaris the best? Probably not. But they are tough, I find extremely reliable, are the ride quality is great. Awesome on the fly true all wheel drive. Good price point too for what they are. Same with the snowmobiles, which I ride exclusively. Not everyone wants to drop 25 grand on a fking can am.

A buddy got a brand new 700 grizzly. I took it out before i bought my new 570. It handled weird, and seemed really top heavy. The engine is supposed to be like 5 horsepower or something more than my 570, but the 570 has way more snap. I was truly underwhelmed by the Yamaha as well, and spent an hour or so on it. Something about the polaris suspension. Can trail ride aggressively, fly off a jump, and sideways and keep blasting. I was scared to turn the grizzly on a freaking road. Wanted to roll and inspired no confidence in the ride.

Belts are a non issue. I dont replace belts on my snowmobiles with any regularity, nor would I expect to on my ATVs. My Voyageur 550 155 has like 6000 hard miles on it, and climbing. I replaced the belt...twice? Once? And it mostly tows beavers and ice fishing sleds . Only complaint is the fuel mileage, and thats because its a fan. Still the same mileage as a yamaha 1050 in a viper though...lol.

No side by side. Tight bush trails dont lend themselves to them, but there are a couple here.

Up in the arctic there are lots of hondas. The engines do keep on ticking, ill give them that. You are walking around up there and you walk past handlebars at foot level...totally buried in the hard pack snow. lol. Let it melt out in the spring, and away you go. lol

I’m not sure, but AZ is about the side by side capital of the world and you don’t see near as many Hondas as you do other brands.

Sorry. Honda All the way for this guy. Much like Hutrapper I'm on my Bikes all the time. I 100% agree the Honda is rough and rugged ride wise, but cant beat the reliability. My older bike is the 2005 Foreman 500ES. I literally have not replaced a single part yet. I've rolled it twice in the bush, and sunk it 3 time on river crossings. Still runs like the day i bought it.

Life long Alaskan and up at my family's remote cabin, and my sister / BIL's cabin close by we have my dad's Rancher, my old Rubicon and King Quad, my BIL's Rincon, and dad's Ranger 6x6. All get used communally for zipping between the cabins, hauling supplies from the boats, and lots of work during hunting season.

The Hondas far and away need the most work, and get hauled out in the winter time more often for major repairs.

Besides heavy hauling on flat dry ground / sport quad riding, I hate the ride quality of swing armed solid rear axles. Besides, for heavy hauling a UTV is the right call, and for sport riding the new IRS big bores are king now anyhow. For trails, mud, bush, swamp, trees, and comfort the independent rear is vastly superior.

For reference, my rig at my house is a 2021 Polaris General XP4 Pursuit Edition.

The Sportsman 500 were the most popular atv in America ever made. There are by far more of those out there than any other quad. The engines were made for 25 years or so until 2015 when they changed to the 570. They're essentially bulletproof and very easy to work on.

I have an older Sportsman and Scrambler. Two very different atvs (IRS vs solid rear axle) but both use the same engine. I recently fully rebuilt the engines, just for the sake of it, and it's not that difficult. And also a good learning experience. Ngl though, these new quads are crazy overpriced. I'll stick to the older ones and just rebuild them myself. Polaris has never let me down, just need to keep up the maintenance.

Oh I also had a Honda Pioneer 500 sxs and traded it in for a RZR 900. No reason to ever look back. Those geared transmissions are dog slow. I'm sure they're reliable, but I've never burned through a belt before anyway. I'll just stick to CVT.

Polaris side-by-side models include Ranger Ranger utility vehicles, RZR performance side x sides, and General crossover side by sides. Polaris UTVs come in 2-seater, 3-seater and 4-seater models ready to hit the trail for fun, get to work on the farm, or go on a hunt for sport.

Belt Drives on snowmobiles have been a huge success but still not a stock option.
