Local Rec Center won't let me train my friend. Reps for workaround.

So my friend is a basement dweller who wants to turn his life around.

We both have a membership at the local PUBLICLY FUNDED recreation center but they say I'm not allowed to train him and that he has to hire one of their in-house personal trainers.

What in the actual ****?

I’ve seen this rule at gyms before

Just do it anyway and tell them you are workout partners if they ask

I think as long as you aren’t running a business doing it they won’t care
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

Fuming. Tell them you want that money back, that is your money in this gym.

If you want to take a **** in it, you have every right.

Tell them he has PTSD and severe social anxiety and you're one of the few people that won't trigger an episode.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Can't you just "work out" together (no homo)

How exactly do you need to train him? You do a set then he does a set...

because OP probably isnt working out. Gyms only care when it's obvious you are strictly training that person.

Bingo.

I'm thinking I could hit my workout and then just stick around for his and kinda go through the motions.

I've 'trained' multiple people during my workouts. I just have them do squat, press pull in the olympic rack
