Takin the gf there for a weekend in a couple weeks.

Seems pretty slammed packed with activities, but we are primarily looking at doing some hiking and bar crawling without having to drive too much.

This a good spot for that?

I've always enjoyed going there. I'm doing a jiu jitsu tournament there next month.

Went there a few years ago with friends. The moonshine tasting at all those places was pretty fun if you can handle all the different ones mixing together in your stomach. Ole Red was also a good place to eat and hear some local country singers. Sky Bridge good. We rented a utv to go up in the mountains but the way they told us to go was the same road as cars take so it wasn't really worth it unless you'd rather be in a utv than a car and you couldn't take your time because you only have so long to rent it. Tons of shopping but I wasn't really into that.

TN is literally a shthole IMO. All the small towns around the state are run down as fuk. Have fun tho n pack sum HEAT

We rent cabins there once a year or so. Also spent our honeymoon there.

I will echo the moonshine tasting is quite fun and inexpensive. You get to try a bunch of different flavors and then get a bit of a buzz to go walking about with. I actually enjoy perusing the wares of those little shops with old timey trinkets and confederate ornaments.

You absolutely must visit the Ripley museums (one of them is more of an arcade type for children, I can't remember the name difference at this moment), Ober Gatlinburg with the huge sky bridge, and also get pancakes at the pancake house before you leave.

Personally, I also really enjoyed the wine run. You go from winery to winery with your little ticket getting samples and once you complete the run, you win a prize.

Haven't even heard of it. I've spent one day in Memphis, TN. I haven't seen much else in the state. Memphis has some sketchy / ghetto areas

yea! good hiking around there in the smokies. can go to clingmans dome (highest point on the appalachain trail), and TN highpoint.
touristy town. ripleys museum was cool. also went to an aquarium.

I go quite a bit. Laurel falls trail is a good hike to do, and as others said clingmans dome. I also like to go explore cades cove although its ALWAYS crowded. We usually go once a year for jeep invasion which is fun but anymore Gatlinburg is always packed. There is an event practically every week at the convention center in Sevierville. I'd go out to Townsend if you wanna try to escape the tourists. Puckers is the only real bar in town, but it can be fun at night. Sugarland's is by FAR the best moonshine, followed by XXX out in pigeon forge. Other than that, the touristy chit i would do is the sky bridge, anekesta, and the tube floating if you get a nice hot day. Places to eat... Junction 35 in pigeon forge, bennet's in Gatlinburg, and Calhoun's are the places i would recommend.. We stay at bearskin lodge...usually pricing is reasonable for a room...just make sure you get a creek view room. Finally, do not wait to get gas until you're in Gatlinburg...there is like one gas station (marathon) and they gouge tourists....also bring beer/booze with you, because its expensive AF in town.

I'm born and raised in east TN, and it has always blown my mind how many people go to Gatlinburg. You can have a lot of fun, but it is very touristy. You are close to seemingly an infinite amount of natural attractions. Pancake Pantry is a great breakfast spot, and if you want a steak, both the peddler and greenbriar cook a great one.

Gatlinburg is way too full of people and way to touristy for me but has some good hiking if you drive far enough away to escape crowds or can hike further than a couple miles as the rest of the 35 BMI people who ate at the pancake pantry can't walk that far. I live like 45 minutes away from there now but haven't gone since moving here, just way too generic for me.

Should be a good time if you've never been though.

You can get some great hiking in there, but the town itself is a SUPER tourist attraction. I love Tennessee, but I am indifferent on G'burg.
