Know these feels. Getting too old to pound them back like I used to. Last hangover was also borderline traumatic.

There is absolutely nothing homosexual about a trappist ale glass. That's how you drink them. You gotta respect the beer. It's a work of art srs.

I have a love hate relationship with Trappist ales. I find many to be just malty sweet without enough hop balance so you need to age them to get more or a Barleywine flavor, but there is not enough booze with many. So they can lack balance. The stronger ones closer to quads I tend to enjoy more and they age better.

It's interesting because this one is technically a Belgian pale ale. It's dry-hopped and has a bitterness to it. Imagine a soft doughy trappist ale like you're probably thinking of mixed with the hoppy intensity of a pale ale. It's a really fascinating beer because it evolves in your glass as it warms.

Not all beer is mass produced macro piss swill that must be drunk nearly ice cold because it tastes so foul when it warms

I’ve actually had that and it’s easy to get here. I want to say a decade ago I first tried it and it was delicious. Very complex, some hoppy raisin and banana notes. I had one aged though and the fresh ones I’ve had since don’t compare. I probably need to buy one and let it sit a few years and try it again.

Nice, I'm doing the same - cellaring one to see how it evolves. I really like doing that.

Did you finish drinking the beers you brewed at home ?

I got a few more hours to go before I can crack open the Pilsners chilling in the fridge.

I recently brewed a hefeweizen that's around 2 weeks away from bottling. I'll be having that later in June. I'm also planning on brewing a Vienna lager in a week or two.
