This was my initial thought as well. Upstate was under a heat advisory but not NYC as far as I know. Weird.

Nah, people always die in huge groups after marathons. Always. Plus, marathon runners are known to have heart issues, all that unhealthy running and crazy bodyweights of 140lbs. Very dangerous.
