I'll be working on refreshing my pickup either later this month or next month. I plan on redoing the interior and repaint the exterior. My question is what are some good 6x9 speakers (mounted in the rear cab corners, single cab) and single din head units? I've been out of the audio game for about 6 years. In my other truck, I put Polk (their mid grade choice of level IIRC) 6x9's in the rear, with a dual channel single 4x10 in the dash and a Kenwood exceleron HU. For the time, this setup in a 1979 pickup was about as good as I could get besides hacking door panels and installing kick panels that beg to get.....kicked.

For my 1984 pickup, I plan on cutting the dash (sorry boomers) for a single din again, but I'll probably end up with just the 2 6x9's in the rear. My dash is cracked real bad just about everywhere, and I'm going to fiberglass about the whole thing to fix it, eliminating the speaker holes (80's Chevys had options of a center speaker, or 3.5's in the front corners IIRC).

So basically I'll probably end up with a two speaker setup, with a modern single din HU. I thought about the retro radio option, but it's expensive and still isn't as versatile as a modern single din. Down the road I'll probably throw in a small amp and sub, but I'm not worried about that now.

Those speakers look great, but would they be wasted in a 1984 pickup? Meaning my truck wasn't designed to have proper sound and acoustics in the cab. Would the benefits of these speakers not be noticed?

Idk man but if i'm gonna get a front stage it's gonna be Morel. Used to be Image Dynamics. Morel are king though.

You won't notice anything special acoustically in a old pickup truck, some modest Kenwoods or whatever like will do just fine.

Unfortunately this is what I figured. I don't mind spending the money for quality parts, but I don't want to end up wasting money on something I can't fully utilize.
