Had an accident with my Toyota RAV4 need help from carcels (SRS)

I crashed my car and Toyota said parts will cost $4000 and labor will be between 1000-2000$. Told them to fk off obviously as the car is worth around 10k USD here. Showed it to a mechanic and he said the rear door needs replacing basically. My car is a 2008 Toyota RAV4 and junk yard sells similar rear door but its for a 2007 RAV4. They said they are confident it will fit but can not guarantee it. Will it fit? They want $400 for it

Best bet is to find a Toyota forum and ask or call a Toyota dealerships service dept and ask if they know.

Absolutely not. Every car is slightly different. You have to get one custom made to fit your car, especially after having an accident. Hence why it was going to be 5k.

doesn't look like there was any sort of redesign between those two years, so you should be fine.

That said, it may not be as simple as replacing just the rear hatch. But if that's your only concern, you should be fine. If you still need reassurance, as stated before, check out a rav4 forum and ask around.

I do this for a living op, I manage a body shop. I really need more pics, but you need a lift gate, lower trim, probably a bumper and maybe some body work behind the bumper, under the carpet. You can get a used lift gate and be fine if it fits. Not specifically sure if those 2 years are compatible, but that's easy to find out.

Do you have the estimate?

it'll work just fine, just searched a bit and they are the same exact door for several model years around that range and 07/08 are identical.

just make sure the latch and the hinges etc aren't fkd or your nice new junkyard door won't line up or close properly. also check if any electronics were fkd during the accident. basically what I'd do is take off the interior panel for the hatch and have a good look around, then check where else besides the door there is any damage. if you had the dealer look at it already they should have a parts list on their quote - if you told them to fk off already before even getting the quote then I'd ask them to send you the quote, act like you're interested and just need to find the money or some sht.
but what you want to see is the parts list of what they are saying needs replaced in case you need something else from the junkyard or new from the dealer and install yourself.

Ya just buy the shell and have the mechanic transfer your old **** to the new shell. Paint the shell before you get it installed

Take it down to Mexico, they will have a new door put on free. You just have to drive across the border with a few kilos that’s stuffed in your new door
