i got a 8 year old son

I can't imagine what the parents are going through right now, he's about to get out for the summer, I didn't even want to send him to school today.

Have a little brother and sister who were in elementary school just 3 years ago

Watched them grow up

I would rope srs - like it would be hell on earth I don’t know how I’d go on

I have an 8 year old daughter (and two sons), but she's my absolute joy. So sweet. I get goosebumps thinking about those parents today. There can't be anything worse.

When JFK was killed, was it the gun or Oswald? Serious question. It seems no one can tell me, without looking it up, what firearm was used. It’s easy to blame the gun, but even a mental midget knows it’s the person who’s responsible. It’s disingenuous to go after guns. I own several and they’ve literally killed no one. But if people like you had their way, I couldn’t or wouldn’t be able to own one because herr derr guns kill people.

OP I remember feeling the exact same way the morning after Sandy Hook when my kids were the same age as yours.

Now I work with elementary school kids. This time it didn't hit me in the feels the same way as Sandy Hook did (maybe because I have a callous built up from the last time), but what's really creepy is seeing how all of my female co-workers are reacting.

Upset isn't a strong enough word. Many are beside themselves, and I'm sure that's the case across the country with hundreds of thousands of teachers.

Idk don’t think about that stuff man, just appreciate the time you have.

Have a close family friend one of my moms best friends

Their 6 year old daughter got leukemia and died after a few years of chemo was my sisters best friend

Their older daughter ended up with alcohol problems, got caught drinking as a teacher and went viral / hate letters etc and roped.

The dad just died of a heart attack a few years ago while hiking.

And now my moms friend is alone for years except a few friends.

Horrible horrible things can happen in life. Maybe this is a reminder of that, but you should never forget how precious every day is with the people you love.

I have a 1 year old and I could barely sleep. Something changes once you have a child, chemical or whatever it is, but seeing them hurt is inconceivable and it translates to all kids.

This is ****ed up.

I get it as I have a 2 year old. But do you also not drive for fear of crashing and your kid dying? Because 43k ppl die per year in car crashes. Its a emotional reaction

Big difference between daily calculated risks, you have a certain level of control over your choices. In this case it’s none.

If you homeschool them they can't be shot be school shooters

Also they won't be exposed to tranny/**** propaganda every day.

If i was planning on having a kid, id first look to leave the usa. The netherlands would be my first choice.... But honestly - for raising kids - the usa is a dumpster fire. even cuckanada has a better feeling of community/happiness.... But theyre full.

i'm sorry but i can't agree with any of you comparing a school shooting to a car accident and how much higher the odds are of a car accident.

you send your kids to school, what is supposed to be a trusted and safe space. and I don't mean this PC globohomo "safe space" chit either... I mean a literal safe space where they should not fear their lives are in danger in any way. out in the world, yeah... car accidents, criminals, etc but if you can't give kids a safe home and school then it's completely fkd.

i'm pro guns, i believe in the right to carry, I get mad that each town in my state is dependent on the police chief's point of views if they will allow guns or not.... but allowing anyone armed into a school is too much. have armed security at every school, start actually questioning people when they are coming in as to WHY they are there.
it blows me away that I can just ring the bell of the school where my kids go and they let me right in.

My girl wont stop crying and didn't want to send 7-year baby girl to school, she went to pick her up and while my girl is at school had to calm her down. She was also not the only parent there picking up their kid mid day.

its a rinse and repeat cycle, mass shooting -> country talks about gun control -> nothing happens -> another mass shooting -> again talk about gun control -> nothing happens

I have zero hope nothing changes while I am not a gun owner or a gun advocate these shootings are just tragic... at this point I'm happy the guy didn't livestream it like the Buffalo guy did...

edit: I was listening to some people talk about it and they mentioned how schools and even more so elementary schools were never the targets for violence those were as they said "off limits" and a line they never saw crossed growing up in bad neighborhoods

but nowadays? it doesn't seem to matter, churches, schools, they're all being targeted now
