- On average 142 people die per year from a mass shooting
- 63% of mass shootings are committed with handguns
- 3% of mass shootings involved the use of illegally manufactured explosives
- All government and military property shootings resulted in the apprehension, killing, or suicide of the mass shooter
- In total, 16% of shootings were stopped by civilians either killing or restraining the shooter
- 29% of shootings in education environments were stopped by civilians either killing or restraining the shooter
- 26% of shootings in houses of worship were stopped by civilians either killing or restraining the shooter
- 14% of shootings in government property were stopped by civilians either killing or restraining the shooter
- 13% of shootings in healthcare facilities were stopped by civilians either killing or restraining the shooter
