My life sucks FML /vent (Car Engine PICS)

My crap 2007 Kia Rio has a freon leak, so i installed some freon today with an extra bottle i had, got the AC working again since it was 91 deg out today i needed the AC....But when i go to close the hood it doesn't lock! This car has always had issues with the hood, I have to pull at a wire to unlock the hood, that hows crap my car is lol So I go the close the hood, doesnt lock at all, now if i drive its possible the hood can fly up and be a danger. I need a damn drink, someone safe me please ha.

Freon pics for your time:

Bro you're losing your chit about a flimsy hood lock, I'm sure it's annoying but it's not like a blown engine or something on that scale. Take a couple minutes to relax and ducktape the chit out of it until you get the spare parts needed.

Did you try hitting it with your purse?

but seriously when I was younger we were going like 100 in my friend POS car.
We hear a noise and the windshield breaks
Pull over and what happened was his hood opened at 100, smashed into the windshield and just ripped off the mounts.
Would have been RIP in peace is it just stayed on the windshield and we could not see

Maybe it's not the latch but the hinge and or brackets that connect it to the body. Check to see if they are loose.

i tried to add refrigerant myself one time and it turned out to be a relay instead. i end up overfilling it because the gauge on the bottle is inaccurate and a shop had to capture all of it and then put back in the right amount. total cost ended up being 150 bucks more than if i had just dropped off my car

You don't have a hair on your ass if you don't use this opportunity to install some old school hood locks.

And a blower.

Instead of patching with Freon, try to have the leak fixed.

Also just put a door hinge lock on the hood. Safest bet tbh

go get some White Lithium Grease and spray the latch with it, move the latch back and forth until it frees up, and then spray a bit more on and it will be good as new.

if it just moves but the release from inside the car does absolutely nothing and feels like it just pulls but no tension on it then the cable itself is probably broken. kinda unlikely but possible.just lube the latch and you should be good.

don't use wd-40, if it's all you have then ok fine but it's not the best long term solution.
