Ok, hear me out....the general consensus about TikTok here is UNbased (srs)

Keep reading: "not clicking tiktok", "lol grown man using tiktok", "negged cause of tiktok", etc

You're not using it to your advantage. Simply use it like you use YouTube. Follow, subscribe, and like ONLY the content, you are interested in. Make a generic account and do not follow friends on there, you got Instagram for that.

fitness
motivation
stand up
fishing
cars
classes
trying to quit a vice
diet
cooking
sales tips
programming
any other interests or hobbies you like.

And your feed and random moments you aimlessly scroll to kill time will actually be filled with short bursts of content helping you improve those aspects. TikTok algorithm is vastly superior to youtube random recommended vids. You'll find new people/content in your areas of interest you weren't aware on. You don't "have a Youtube"'' or anybody you know personally.... but everyone USES youtube.

When I'm being lazy AF and don't want to to the gym, less than 5 minutes of scrolling and I get my ass up motivated to do it.

I’ve never had a TikTok because it is simply not a trustworthy platform. They share your location data, IP address, search history, the content of your messages, what you're viewing and for how long, more than any other app. As a Chinese owned company, they very likely gathers data to spy on American citizens. I’m sure some helpful niches exist, but I won’t risk my data on there.

Additionally, I have seen from friend’s feeds that TikTok AGGRESSIVELY pushes degeneracy and LBGTQ+ content. On IG or Twitter it’s there, but the algorithm doesn’t favor it nearly at the level of TikTok. Plus underage girls twerking or otherwise sexualizing themselves go viral on that platform all the time. They also push a lot of anti-white male content. I’m not even one of these great replacement race ph@gs but I can’t deny the amount of viral BLM videos on there blatantly bashing white men for their privilege. It’s some weird twisted chit.

I know that, and its by no means my main source of entertainment or social platform. I'm saying those few minutes here and there where you waiting for something or someone and you have your phone in your hands and automatically open an app to pass the minutes. Those moments when anything is youtube is too long for the 'dead' minutes you might have and are up to date with your important communications. I get disgusted with my insta feed of friends and family flexing for the gram that I usually close it quick. But in 2-5 minutes you might get motivated, learn something, etc.

And its been extremely good in predicting new content/users in your fields of interes based on your activity that you might have not even heard off and before you know it you find a good profile and its leads you into a rabbit hole of knowledge in other platforms.

Have you ever actually used it or are you just repeating things you've seen others say? I've literally never seen anything you mentioned on the app, I just get fitness vids and stuff from tradies
