Do you wipe down the equipment after you use it at the gym?

It has recently been made aware to me that common courtesy is to at least wipe down the seats after you finish. I am a big sweater, i leave a big fat sweat bum print when i finish and i never wipe things down. To be honest, i've never seen anyone wipe things down apart from that clown covid time.

So do you wipe?

I only really care about parts people would sweat on like the pad on the bench press but I wipe off before and after.

I've always wiped down equipment...Treat others how you want to be treated. I don't want to sit in anyone else's sweat, so I make sure they don't sit in mine.

nah man, I usually spit on the seat too, especially if I haven't started sweating yet. Gotta mark my territory.

Usually depends on the gym. I train at a higher class facility now, so I will wipe down machines. It helps that they have wipe dispensers everywhere so you don't need to grab a spray bottle/paper towel.

Been to some gyms where you'd get laughed at for wiping machines down as well..... just a matter of environment.

Honestly no, unless I am sweating extensively, which usually doesn't happen on the bench as I start out with it. Almost never sit on other equipment. I do lay a towel down where my head goes. Assuming everyone's wearing clothes and washes their hands before and after, I don't see the need beyond this honestly, and don't care that others don't either.

I recall it being common courtesy in a public gym for you to wipe your gross sweat off a machine. I never really had that issue as I carried around a towel, as did other members. I believe it was a gym requirement. I train in my own gym now and have been doing so for nearly 4 years and I still have a towel on my bench. The other day, I swept in there for the first time in 2 years (srs). Should have seem the piles of dust/rust/chalk. When I'd slam my 45 pound plates on the floor, a sea of dust would cloud up. A real brutal dungeon gym.

Only the leg press and preacher curl. Sometimes bench if it's later in my workout when I'm more wet (no homo)

Pretty much unavoidable smearing sweat all over those

I usually only wipe it down before, not after. I don't sweat that much and if I do I will usually wipe it down if I know someone is itching to use it after me

Otherwise it's really on them if they want it cleaned

Before Covid there were skin diseases like MRSA( LOOK IT UP) so we wiped down just in case...... as mrsa was very hard to get rid of.
