I got offered a 2-year contract in London for GBP 50k salary annually. How will my standards of living be with that salary

that's about 3k pcm after tax

live somewhere zone 4-6 alone for 1200k-1500k (zone 2-3 is gna wipe u out unless u share) with bills

underground pass is about 200-270

food is another 3-400

gym is 70-100

then u got clothes, entertainment, going out, savings etc


in short its worth going to experience the city but dont expect to come out with any savings

GBP 67K is average and GBP 37K is typical. Living expenses are horrible in London. You can probably live OK but will need to be frugal. A big night out will rek your wallet.

Main thing is finding somewhere that's not absolute chit to live but also allows you to commute. I know little about London public transport but the London Underground is about the only bit of the rail service that actually works in England and isn't prohibitively expensive. So living with access to a train station is likely important.

Nah bro, not a good deal. London is expensive and difficult. Especially at that salary. maybe if your company is offering residency then it's probably better but otherwise, you're gonna be living neck to neck.

Nah there are nice areas in there, also some not some nice ones depends what area you look at. The new build areas are quite nice and the people are educated and living well too, but yeah rents are obviously quite high

If you look for a place to live, try Greenwich. It's a bit of a student area with a hippish vibe, but not a lot of urban yutes there, nice and modern. Also well connected to go into the city and not far from it either.

What's your deal are you a permanent resident do you have a visa???

Most people in London get paid as day rate contracts.

Example my baby mom works for amazon makes 500 quid a day and is paid through an umbrella company. If he was paid a salary she might get 75k plus pension etc.

That's how you do well in the UK.

Can't even imagine what it is there these days. Had a friend make equivalent of $100K and he had to live with roommates.

suburbs actually many are more like towns with easy links to the city, best place to live
