Moving to countryside, which dog to pick ?

newfoundland dog vs bernese mountain dog ?

They are supposed to be loyal dogs both, whats your opinion ?

I've experienced both. Newfies are a little too big.
BmD is a good dog.

Both are pretty hairy messes though. I'd consider something shorter hair.mid size and not too hyper. Some kind of hound dog maybe with big floppy ears.

Are you gonna use them to do country stuff? I had a rottweiler when I bought my house in the mountains. Rottweilers are German farm/shepherding dogs so I knew he'd love the property here. He did, but tragically died suddenly less than 6 months after we moved.

Depends on why you want a dog and amount of space and all that but you're on the right track. I have a soft spot for those bernese teddy bears. They look like a fluffy pile of appetizing icecream colors srs.

edit: ^ saw above you have a cat. Don't get a dog with a high prey drive then unless you socialize it as a little puppy. German Shepherd and Husky come to mind. Be careful with those around little animals.

*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*
*Fat shame my cat on a daily basis crew*

Quality mixed dogs are good bets. Something like a Australian Shepherds mix or border collie mix. Farmers and ranchers really have good leads on these 2 mixes. Mixed with another good type work family dog you avoid a lot of the health problems of purebred dogs.

Maybe wait until you get out in the country and keep your eyes open for leads from locals. Especially if they are farmers or ranchers with a nice place.

I was going to suggest these 2 but once again, be careful. You can't kill an aussie in terms of energy. Be prepared to exercise that little kunt every day

My dog happens to be part coli. She's a strange mix of like 6 different breeds - all farm/work dogs. It's impossible to tire her out so I've started doing agility with her, which she excels at.

Its a snoby lil city no farmers or ranchers around, but yes i should look around first i guess still favoring the newfoundland one
