Any "On-Call" miscers? How do you like it?
In cyber security, quite a few jobs out there demand flexibility when it comes to being on-call. Makes sense, given that cyber attacks can occur during off-hours / holidays all the same.
Up to this point, my current and former roles haven't had an on-call aspect. Overtime sometimes, usually voluntary, but that's about it.
I've got interviews for positions at two companies which both require "on call" aspects. Former me would've viewed this as a deal-breaker in itself, but I'm beginning to approach jobs with higher experience requirements, and for this, I've yet to identify any non-on-call opportunities. Gonna probably have to grow a pair and accept it for what it is.
For those who have been on-call before, what are your thoughts, if any?

No matter how far you advance down this path it will never lead to the fulfillment and security you desire. You only serve to give up more of your self for meaningless baubles

Current hospital I work for the on-call is straight booty & they have you on-call for 12 hours - least they let you choose the day.
Wish they'd make the on-call rate universal for everyone. My department gets 3.50/hr on call, while the rest of the hospital gets around 9.00.

On-call 9-12 days a month. Get woken up couple times a month to go in. I knew going in how it would be, but I like the job so it’s makes it palatable. Also get paid to be on call, which makes it a bit more easy.
