programmer brahs, please give some insight

I finished learning C using codeacademy and youtube tutorials.. I kept reading it's the best language for a beginner to get a grasp on how the machine works and how the whole 0s and 1s thing is interpreted with code.
I did a few quick projects like a simple calculator, an interactive calendar that calculates **** like what day of the week you were born, leap years and other bullchit little ideas.. Tried to use as little help from the internet as possible as to not get stuck in tutorial hell and learn to solve problems myself..

I got the basic idea of C now I want to move on to more advanced languages.. I have a pretty good job so I'm not in a hurry but I've always loved the idea of programming, I was pretty good with macromedia Flash and html when I was like 13, did a bunch of school projects with it that usually impressed teachers and nerds (never the sloots though).. So my aim is to slowly continue learning programming, put like 1.5 hours a day towards it, and see if maybe I can get a remote job after I build a nice portfolio.. Then I want to become an annoying digital nomad, travelling the world smashing sloots of all colors.. I also like the idea of being given a project with a deadline, then it's up to me to do it in that timeframe, if I don't fire me.. but I will cause i'm a sick kunt..

Anyways, I read javascript is great for remote jobs and you need to learn front and backend development to use it.. Which I still don't know if that's good or bad.. So I'm thinking something like the odin project.. html ->css->javascript, no idea about js libraries yet, gotta read more into it.

But what do you guys think of my plan?

freecodecamp is another good resource, they have a bunch of small tutorials and then you move on the work on projects.

Warning, after about 6-8 months you will be good enough to realize that you really, really suck in the grand scheme of things. Try and power on

Learning JS is a very good idea.
but don't make it your only language.

try
C#
Java
Python

mess around with some other languages and see what you like.

Different paradigms is a good idea (OOP, Functional, Procedural, Imperative, etc)
JS is good but learn it with a stack (like MEAN)...pick some JS frontend and try connecting it to a backend API...even basic CRUD ops as a start

lol C is already one of the most advanced languages. I think you mean a more "high level" language.

Anyways my suggestion is to not read some blog post by ****** about what is good for the industry. Instead hop on linkedin, and start surfing for jobs that you would like. Positions in the area you want to work (or remote), company, sector of industry, etc.. Then scroll down to the qualifications on what they require for the engineers and try to learn those tech stacks in your projects.

Depending on the company you apply to, they might also have some kind of technical screening in their interview(s), so you will want to also learn the basics of computing, stuff like algorithms (leetcode for example) and system design.

I also highly recommend to immediately start working on team projects instead of individually, that way you build soft skill experience for common interview questions. For example, if you were interested in game development, you could hop on the Unreal Engine discord, look through the job board for small projects (usually unpaid), and pm the indie devs to work with them. That way you get some experience working with a SDE team, even if amateur, and hopefully have a published app at the end which recruiters could look at.

Find a book called “higher order perl”, the author has a free pdf on his website. This book is legendary in teaching problem solving and tricks you can do with highly dynamic languages like perl and JS

Read through the book, recreate the examples with JS instead of perl, which generally supports everything used in the book

Some of the examples aren’t trivial, like creating a regex engine and an HTML parser

Maybe start pursuing dev certification with one of the cloud vendors, e.g. Microsoft (Azure) or Amazon (AWS). The certification roadmaps will help you figure out what you need to learn and the certifications themselves could be useful in landing a consulting gig of some kind through an agency or something. Study fundamental computer science topics as well (start with data structures and algorithms 101 kind of thing) as you will need to know the basics if you ever aspire to sit for a tech interview.

In for more advice.
You are your thoughts. Life is perception, thoughts are perception, perception is reality ergo thoughts are reality, I think therefore I am.

If you're learning with the goal getting a job
1) html + css + SASS
2) Javascript
3) React.js

if learning just for fun:
Python, Java (build projects)
