Hey misc, rancher brah checking back in…

Since it’s been a little dry I ventured out into the new badlands basin acquisition and snapped a couple pics on my way out to give you an idea of the enormity and beauty of this place. It’s been pretty rainy the last month so it’s super green and pretty but here’s where the misc hunting and fishing ranch is setting up shop. Enjoy!



This was just a stand of trees I thought was pretty and pic worthy on my way out.



This is a pic of the badlands wall that surrounds it from one of its highest points in the basin, that wall is roughly 6 miles from me in that pic. Kind of some game of thrones stuff right there.

Sorry I didn’t take more pics it was a long hot day and I didn’t think to take pics until the way out. I’m driving now on mobile so if the pics don’t work I apologize but as usual I’ll pay reps for people to fix my pics if needed.

Impressive and jelly as fuk.

What are your thoughts on homesteading and in addition-homesteaders on YouTube? I'm seriously considering turning one of my skills into a business and moving out to BFE. I don't know if this will end up helping or hurting my kids in the long run tho.

I didn’t get up close but through the looking glass it looks like an abandoned water tanker.

A few years back a friend of a friend from Rhode Island came out and rode horses out in the pasture with me, after a day he literally got sick and almost passed out. After he smoked half a pack indoors he felt right again, told me it was too much fresh air for him.

Looks awesome OP. My grandpa ran cows and owned a couple ranches at different times while I was growing up in order to have summer range for his cows. My dad preferred farming and didn't like being tied down by the cows all winter. The family sold grandpa's ranch after he passed, and I miss it.

When I butcher animals I generally keep steaks, a couple roasts, cut some into stew meat, and grind the rest. The ground meat is often what we go through the fastest because it is easy to just substitute it for hamburger. We use it a bunch in sloppy joes, tacos, and spaghetti. If you are looking for something a bit more technical that is specifically tailored to wild game, Eileen Clarke puts out some good info:

I have her slice of the wild book and it's very good for talking about the care of wild game with regard to getting the best meat and differences in how to cook with wild game versus farmed meat.

Sorry for the late reply, elk burgers made with onion soup mix and grilled are pretty damn good but be careful to not overcook as they tend to be over lean.
