I think the Switch will just pass PS2 sales, especially with a price cut. $100 lite will get it there.

Makes sense how they managed to sell so many because it's ancient compared to the competition.
The standard that they put on game development is top notch. Quality control on the games themselves goes a long ways. I don't remember the last game that was put out on the Switch that required a Day One patch in order to play.

Nintendo has never cared about graphics, or trying to battle it out in the Playstation vs Microsoft war, they don't care about any of that, they have THEIR market and they do incredibly well with it. Switch sales absolutely dwarf PS5/XboxX and will continue to do so for the rest of this generation by an absolute mile. So no, Nintendo doesn't need to step it up to be on par with the "competition" lol. And even beyond just sales, their fans are happy, Nintendo fans like what they have and what they're getting, Nintendo fans aren't out there begging for a 8k console with 10000x ray tracing and futuristic life-like graphics, they want Mario/Zelda/Kirby/etc...

For me, getting a Steam Deck eliminated the Switch for everything besides first party Nintendo games and the occasional indie, and even then indie games tend to be a lot cheaper on Steam, or I can play half of them for free on GamePass.
Nintendo is not even releasing their best games anymore. Their latest game is what, Mario Strikers soccer? Not even interested in that. Advance Wars 1+2 looked fun but they cancelled that because Putin politics. By the time we finally get Metroid Prime 4 I doubt I will even care anymore.
