Is being an electrical tradie good/respectable?
I was doing roofing for a bit and got laid off after Xiden's pipeline policies shut down production.
Then, thru bad luck got Covid and had to deal with the after affects.
Basically, since last november, ive worked at 4 electrical companies as a first year but due to covid and health problems, i didnt make it past probation.
Spent a month doing pre-assemble work- bending pipe, prepping boxes, etc for a new amazon warehouse
Then did some residential roughins, was pretty cool but had to working in late winter and it was cold af.
Then worked at a water treatment plant for upgrades.
Finally, worked at a dt high rise condo. Commute, parking and going up the stairs was brutal lol.
Now im semi back to good health, and am seeing all these job listings and going to apply for everything.
Is being a sparky a good trade?
Also forgot to mention at the very last job before taking a personal break, was a cylinder handler, which paid more than first year electrical but it was only temporary, orders got filled up, etc etc.

Anything mechanical is a good trade.
HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fitting ......
Elevator installation is another where you make a shytload of money.
And this is all stuff that will be in high demand in the future, because the younger generations are not going to work a physical job.

If you plan on being a sparky, just make sure you never pick up a broom or god forbid clean up after yourself on a job site. I’m pretty sure it’s one of the first things they teach you as an apprentice

If you think you’d like the work do it boyo DFS
It’s a skill no one can take away from you
I don’t know your age but I’d try to become a foreman or PM/super before you become broke down and beaten or test for your contractors license to run your own service truck
It’s still trade work at the end of the day so you’ll have health problems as you age
There’s no other trade where you can get away with so much DFS
I literally got a better gig lined up and stopped showing up last Thursday to my current job just cuz
I was kinda lied to about how many new projects , OT and how much commercial work this contractor had and I warned the super when he hired me I don’t do that resi **** , especially resi service
I looked at the schedule tonight and they still haven’t terminated me yet lol
It’s aight , they’ll figure it out

We own this bitch and there’s always work somewhere else so meet our requests or it’s See ya

I got my scissor lift and fall arrest done so that is a little heads up compared to my peers in the field.
