Coins most likely. Rounds aren’t that appealing. I have some bars, but I think coins are better. I’ve considered doing Perth Kangaroos because the premium on them is way lower than Silver Eagles. I don’t want to pay 15 dollars over spot for a coin. That’s retarded.

Only marginally. It’s under $22 an ounce now. But Silver Eagles are like $35 or $36 an ounce now. No thx Jeff. I also have a good bit of cash lying around (no IRS) that I want to put to work.

I'm on same page. I have bought into ETF. Considering the money you lose in commissions premiums that are paid out, ETFs better if you are just looking for safe harbor investment. Also more liquid.

If you are truly worried about the end of the world, ETFs obviously will be useless. So this is the only reason to buy physical.

I have some money in gold/silver/other precious metal ETFs. I probably will buy physical gold/silver at some point, but truly as an "emergency preparedness" thing.

I’ve flirted with it, and I’m certainly no expert, but it seems putting it into an ETF costs money too or am I thinking 401k? I’d just rather have tangible silver, gold, and platinum.

Neat, I like to buy silver coins with money from scrap metal. It's a good way to turn nothing into something. I have American, canadian and indian silver coins, plus some bullion coins from around the place.

My American coins are a collection though, I spend way over spot value for some of those.

I started buying the odd bullion coin when an oz was going for around 32 nzd. Last I checked it was almost double that

In for pics OP

I buy silver and gold, make sure you get them to match the silver price as close as possible. Sometimes they'll go under if they still get a margin assuming you buy a lot at once.

I wouldn't do it in a 401k. 401k should be stocks (maybe some bonds depending on how long til retirement).

Most brokerage accounts (robinhood, fidelity) don't do trading fees anymore.

There are lots of low cost ETFs. For example, this one charges a 0.5% annual fee. I'm sure commissions/premiums you pay for physical silver exceed that.

Only buy physical. Don't buy any paper silver. That's how they manipulate the price in the first place. You don't own it unless you hold it though.

Buy most of your stuff online OP finding the best prices possible. I haven't bought silver for a while because these premiums are nuts. Just get coins, bars, and basic common rounds. Maybe get some junk silver too. You have any gold?

The best thing to do is get a good rapport with your local coin dealer that isn't taking advantage of you by just buying a little bit from him often. The big purchases do online unless you find an LCS that can give a reasonable price these days.

Don't do this. You're way better off just buying buffalos than eagles. Eagles are the worst investment in the silver market with these premiums. It's laughable. The difference in what you get from places from eagles compared to maples or rounds is barely any difference.

I've got a little gold. I think it is at its highest and will likely be there a while. I doubt it ever gets much higher.

It will probably go down until the recession/depression is in full effect. Then it will only go up from there for a while. More demand for silver in gold in the future, plus it is a risk off asset during inflationary times to preserve wealth. JP Morgan can't manipulate it forever.

As long as you have both you're good. I'm heavier in silver as well because of the industrial use upside. We'll see what happens.

What do you goofy dorks recommend I buy?

I'm oscillating between palladium, platinum, and silver.

Silver could return me 2.5 times my money if it reaches its previous ATH. Platinum could double it. Palladium could give me 1/2 my money. Gold I believe is going to maintain for a while. But I have a lot of silver and very little platinum and even less gold. I'd like palladium and it's pretty low comparatively speaking. I'd like to get rhodium but I ain't dropping 14k on a bar.

Metals market is the most manipulated of any.

If the world goes to sh!t, ammo will be worth a lot more than silver or gold coins.

Stack cases of 22LR, 9mm, .223 and 12ga.
