I switched to Schwab years ago. They want to make you a brokerage client so their banking is almost all free - including, any charges you get hit with at an ATM are reimbursed at month end.

The only thing is they do not have any physical locations but they are nothing short of awesome to work with. They jumped through hoops when I was buying my house.

I use Schwab for unlimited atm fee reimbursements anywhere in the world and Marcus for savings. Chase tried to charge me a monthly maintenance fee on my old account so I noped on out of there.

Wells Fargo must be more popular west of the Mississippi. There aren't many branches around here and I personally don't know a single person that uses them
