Opinions on Bowflex adjustable dumbbells?
https://www.amazon.com/Bowflex-Selec...s%2C146&sr=8-5

$429 certainly isn't cheap, but was looking to do some basic training at my home instead of going to the gym. I'm not heavy into lifting anymore, so this would be something I use when I feel up for it along with pushups and pullups. I imagine that's enough to get a solid workout in and put on some muscle.
Are they worth it?

I don't care about going to the gym anymore. Rather just do simple home work outs when I'm in the mood, have the TV on at the same time

Not good at all. They are plastic, rickety, break easily, and sometimes the dial locks up or the mechanism snags somewhere and you're unable to change weights. Also as you go heavier in weight it becomes cumbersome when doing bicep curls or military press. If you want something similar but more durable and solid then go for Powerblocs.

I snagged a pair before covid got bad, assuming we'd have lockdowns and gyms closed.
I only paid like $340 for mine (same exact ones as in OP's pic)... I honestly think they're great.
It's kind of a pain to put them back into base just to change weight, but it's pretty cool having the availability to go from 5 lbs to 52.5 lbs.
If you're not into lifting and just want something easy and convenient to knock out exercises with to "stay in shape" they're hard to beat. I've had mine 3 years and they still work great.. never broken on me.
Beat exercises for them:
- floor presses for chest
- various curls for biceps
- shoulder press and lateral raises for shoulders
- bent over rows for back
- overhead one arm extension for triceps
- lunges, goblets squats, sld for legs
It gets boring doing the same exercises but you can definitely do a full body workout.
Right before covid, in addition to the DB's I also bought a bunch of bands and parallel bars. I'm an experienced lifter and was able to get myself sore with just these items which cost like $500 for everything.
I love lifting and I've been back in a gym again and it's not replacement for a real gym workout, but it gets the job done in a pinch and plenty sufficient for someone not into intense training just looking to get resistance work in to keep tight.

Not sure what everyone else is buying but my Bowflex dumbells are strong and lasting. I have 2 sets of them, both sizes, along with kettlebells and they have not broken, cracked, seem cheap or anything.
I love them and use them all the time. They were a great addition to my home gym.

I got adjustable dumbbells last year after doing significant research and ended up getting the Power Block Sport EXP. They are AWESOME. Best money I've ever spent srs.
I also got a Rep Fitness bench, the FID model (flat, incline, decline), which is really great, high quality, nicer than most gym benches.
