Lower back pain just above the butt crack started randomly

No history of back pain as such…was standing in the backyard washing a cooler. Had bent multiple times in the last few minutes to move the cooler around and apply soap.

Sparayed water and bent gently to move the cooler and felt my back starting to give out. I had to stop what I was doing and went, changed and had to lay down.

No or low pain if laying out but pinching pain if I try to move or stand up and sit on the pot/chair. Can’t walk straight up. Can walk leaning forward a bit but with pain. What have I done?

Feels like if I let out a big fart or a major dump it’ll feel better but I have passed some gas and not getting better.

Why the fuk would I just start randomly? Not even while doing anything strenuous. What have I done?

When walking (slightly bent over) my glutes are trying to contract and feeling a pinch

Welcome to your 30s bro. Wait until you turn 40, apparently a medium sneeze can dislocate your kidney when you're that old.

Thanks. Don’t think it’s over the counter in the US but I’ll see if I can send someone to get me some.

This happened about 6 hours ago. And now I can get out of bed with pain but can’t stand up straight to walk. Fuking pissed!

Wondering if I should just head to the ER

Ibuprofen with food 800 mil 3x per day.

Extra calcium

Extra magnesium

Ice tonight heat in morning

Do a full stretching routine specifically for back spasm.

Do the exercise that reactivates the core and helps you relax.

Lots of gentle walking and heat after first 24 hrs.

i was gonna say muscular. but "pinching" pain is weird

maybe pinched sciatic nerve. if it runs down your leg - like tingling/ going numb then prob a bulging disc pinching on a nerve

doubt its herniation as you don't seem to be in excruciating pain

could be a strain or muscle spasms too

based on the non-chalantness of your post, imma go with not nerve pain

Sounds like your sciatic nerve. Since it wasn't from bending with load or anything my guess is that you strained/tweaked your piriformis muscle. It is a muscle that runs right over the sciatic nerve.

I had this happen years ago and couldn't even tie my shoes for a week.

See if this is it. If it is there's a video I can post that helps a lot with it

I used to have lower back pain like that too. I did mess up my lower back squating many years ago so that played a part. But once I started doing a lot if lower back exercises it got better. I think u just have a weak lower back. Do some lower back extension. Don't kno whats it exactly call. But it's that one thing where it's like a incline bench and u bend over. U can use body weight or hold weights. But I started doing it everyday when I go to the gym. And it made my lower back stronger and I never had lower back pain anymore

If this is your first time experiencing this, it will go away in about a week or so. and you're right, if you go to the ER, they're not going to do anything but give you the"You're just getting older"speech. The best thing you can do at the moment is look on youtube for lower back stretches and yoga poses. Find a handful that feel best to you and become an expert at them.

This is why our parents always told us not to slouch and sit up straight, Things you use to be able to get away with when we were younger, we have to start paying more attention to.

No more buying cheap ass office chairs just because they look neat (those chitty "gaming chairs" for example) no more gym sessions with no warmup/cool down stretching, and one that people often don't think about, no more fancy shoes that you buy simply because of their brand or because they look cool. Things like lumbar support for chairs and support for shoes should start to become more important to you.

I'm saying this as someone that phucked my chit up deadlifting about 6 years ago....never been the same. I feel well enough to twist and bend and pick stuff up but it always feels...off like at any moment an incorrect bend will snap my chit up all over again.

Yoga should be your new best friend. You situation isn't unique or special. Everyone gets lower back pain in some capacity in their life as they get older. Whether you're a tradie doing heavy lifting on the job, or an officell sitting for hours a day in a bad chair with poor posture, it happens to us all.

I'll also just post this video in almost all back threads. I have a bad back for life basically because of scoliosis, and I have had other issues recently, but doing this video several times a week had had a major impact on my back health in a good way. Legit the first week or two I was shaking like a leaf and sweating doing this stuff despite how easy it seems. Start doing this daily.

This stuff is legit btw. Not some random guy.

I’ve had this on and off for years.

The only thing that helps is squats and deadlifts. It’s actually a glute medius spasm, not your lower back. It just feels like it because of the position.

No pain in the butt crack. The pain is above the butt crack in the lower back.

I can’t even sit up right now without pain. This is jacked up. I wasn’t even doingg that anything. I was fine all morning. Came home. Went to the backyard and was washing my ice chest and as I bent over to move the EMPTY ice chest while washing back gave out.

Took one 220mg Aleve. Didn’t do anything.

Took backaid maximum strength 30 minutes ago and hasn’t done anything.

No pain down to the legs or anything. Just pain in the lower back in the spine area and feel pressure in the glutes while walking (walking with a lot of pain).

I’ve read what each and all of you have said and starting my research.

No homo and no pun intended…being on my hands and knees feels the best. I feel like my glutes are contracting as I lay here. Maybe it is a spam but for sure there is also pressure on my spine in the lower back when I sit up or try walking.

I really need to get to work on Monday. Fuk!

Thanks you guys. Off to watching videos on YouTube and doing the test that one of you posted.

I had exactly what you are describing the other week.

I think it is a pinched sciatic nerve

Don't worry. I'll go away but don't do any lifting/running. Just stretch. Only stretch.

It will go away in about 1 week srs. Look up stretches for sciatic nerve pain

See if this is it. If it is there's a video I can post that helps a lot with it
My right side felt a bit tight but it was not painful.

While laying when I try to bring my knees up it is causing pain in the spine / in the area that hurts when I try to sit or walk. Feels messed up!

Have had the same exact issue before. Twice.

#1 fix for me was stretching my calves out and doing some glute, hip flexor and psoas stretches.

Also add in some hamstring activation stuff.

I wouldn't do like hardcore stretching but light just slightly feeling a little stretch was best for me. Like 30 second stretches

Will check it out.

Based on the information here, the videos and self test, so far it seems like it’s not a nerve pain. It’s feeling more like a localized joint paint.

- Glutes are feeling a bit tight and “wanting to contract”

- sharp pain in lower back in the spine and when laying also now. When turning or trying to sit up gets much worse and really not able to stand up on my own. When laying, it feels like I should go #2 to get it to feel better or pop my back and it should feel better.

Fuk man. Really worried
