We had these “water boys” in my city too, maybe still do

Urban youths would camp out at busy intersections and at first glance just appear to be harmlessly selling water. But there was video evidence of them harassing and intimidating drivers stopped at red lights, reaching in windows and stealing purses, snatching wallets when people took them out to pay for a water bottle, beating on cars, blocking cars by standing in front of them. And some of them were brandishing guns

And our mayor called them “entrepreneurs” and wanted to do more to help them

Also let’s be real, they will just be on the street again tomorrow even after being arrested, so they can keep robbing innocent taxpayers. Yay!

That was the controversy in my city with these criminals. The police arrest them, but just drop them off at their single mothers section 8 apartment, where the mom can just say he was a good boy and didn’t do nothing. Then let him go back and continue to rob innocent people

lmao hooooly chit ive been driving by these kids for the last month. cant believe they finally got popped. they were agressive AF sitting at that light with me one afternoon when i was in my jeep with the doors off. not surprised this chit went down.

there used to be a black club at that intersection...not sure if its still there, but thats where T.I. got into a shootout going down the highway like 10 years ago. that part of town is an absolute chit hole.

The cops were a lot more restrained and giving the kid many chances to make good. Over here in NYC, a dozen cops drag away a middle age Mexican mom selling tortillas in the subway because she didn't have a permit.

Honestly, this would have gone differently if they didn't have an attitude.

So you can't be selling things on the side of the road. There is a reason for this. Do you really want to be harassed by sales people while being held captive at a light?

So the cop has to enforce the law. When he pulled up and said they can't do that, they should have just said "alright sorry" and packed up their stuff and left and not do it again and that would be the end of it. But no, we just can't do that can we? No, we are going to argue, freak out, make a scene, start refusing to do what a law enforcement officer tells you.

I blame BLM and the craven politicians who bowed down to their demands. When law makers give in to you (and by extension, prevent/restrict law enforcers from doing their job), then what incentive is there to respect the laws?
