"Nope" movie reviews ITT (spoilers will be dropped but hidden)
Thought it was def original and in line with Spielberg-ian movies in the 2nd half. There were a couple of scares, but also a really good mix of comedy. Def had the whole audience laughing when one of the main characters in a "scary" situation literally gave the "Nope!" and 360'd out of there.
I will say the themes of this movie are pretty spelled out at the end of the movie. Looking back it does kind of hold your hand of certain aspects but people will STILL have trouble decipher it
7.5-8/10
Probably a little "worse" than Get Out or Us but still good
Spoilers!!!!!
Spoiler!

The Gordy part of the movie honestly could have been a movie in and of itself. I did like the general theme of us/humans thinking we can control animals. It's basically what happened with him and "Jean jacket".
Once he got fed that fake horse, it snapped and basically attacked everyone. It did have some angelic like elements with the way it looked at the end and kind of went in line with the "UFO is just a weather balloon" thing which was interesting.

I liked it. I’m glad someone is being original with horror on a big budget. I watch a lot of horror movies, and there are amazing ideas that get ruined by low budget indie movies.
I just wish I lived near a real 70mm IMAX screen. Digital IMAX is a lie and shouldn’t use the name. No different than watching it at Cinemark XD (I do because ours is close and very clean).
I’d say Get Out was the best, but I liked Nope more than Us for sure.
Spoiler!
The Gordy subplot and scenes had me on edge way more than the main plot. I didn’t expect that at all.

Why the hell did the cinematographer basically kill himself after getting the shot of a lifetime lol. He basically committed suicide for no reason. I guess the "impossible shot" would be getting taken by UFO but he didn't seem suicidal or ready to die for it lol. He literally had the shot to be rich and famous and a worldwide name then said "nah fuk all that" lmao
