My Friend Asked Me To Be The Godfather Of His Son
My friend just had a kid a couple weeks ago and he asked me tonight if I would be the Godfather. I told him I’d be honored.
Anybody on here a Godfather? My understanding is generally it’s basically an invitation to be a part of the child’s life.

That’s really cool they highly think of you to ask you to be their son’s Godfather.
For most the roll of Godparent also means in the event something happens to the parents, you step in to help raise the child.

I was definitely honored to be asked regardless.

You havent asked us anything in a long time. Never came by to post some funny threas but now youre asking for our help..
You didnt ask with respect. You never offered your friendship, i get it. You moved to sicily found a good gf. You didnt need friends like us.
If you had came to us with respect & offering friendship your prodblem would be dealt with and answers youre seeking for would be in your grasp. But instead you came to us with disrespect.

I think the "God" part means they expect some religious affiliation.

Relationships do not work by simply doing things right. You need to share values.

My ex sister in-law has godchildren. They’re her best friend’s, since high school, children. Her friend doesn’t have any family at all. So my ex sis has taken on more of an Aunt roll to them.
