It's tough. We're trying to get Mom home but she needs 24/7 care, so Medicare won't pay for a caregiver around the clock like that. It's a huge mess. She needs someone who can lift her in and out of the shower and bathroom. I can't do that and my father is disabled.

My Mom has dementia and had a heart attack and stroke

No I don't. I'm an only child. I also have an aunt and another aunt and uncle who are elderly and they don't have kids, so I have 5 to take care of. My aunt just had another bad fall. I take her out shopping and run errands often.

It's overwhelming to say the least.

sounds like you need more Kids to grow up to take care of them.

In asian households, we would never put our family members in the nursing home

we have aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters to care for them in a big house with a big family.

See this is why we need better healthcare and elderly care in this country. It's fuking bullchit. It's also insane how everyone splits up and moves all over the place. It's unnatural. In America, you're expected to just be ridiculously rich or just fuking die. People don't have any bonds to their kids, and the kids aren't expected to care for the parents. You're just booted age 18 and then expected to be rich enough to put them in a home. But if you can't, fuk you I guess. It's sad. Hang in there.
