Ok Misc Recommend Me Some Hikes

I’ve got a week off coming up and was debating leaving the country but I’m in europe next month so I’ll stick around in the good ole us of a. What you got? Don’t care where as long as I don’t have to drive 5 hours to get there.

I’m a big fan of desert hikes. Was debating some of the national parks in southern Utah and maybe go back to Phoenix and do some of the ones around there like Saguro 1 day then maybe drive to Sedona another. I’ve got 7 days so maybe 2-3 cities if flights work out. Hikes around 2-3 hours are ideal and I prefer loops vs out and back but that’s not a dealbreaker. Camelback in Phoenix is the hardest one I’ve ever done for reference.

Death Valley has some good ones. Even a waterfall. But I wouldn’t go there until it cools down.https://www.nps.gov/deva/planyourvisit/hiking.htm

Have done some good ones in Joshua Tree too but its also pretty hot there now. I went in May and it was starting to warm up.

I have done some near Phoenix, like between Phoenix and Scottsdale, let e try to fond the name of that one.

Grand Canyon has some serious leg workout hikes coming back up. Plus you can treat yourself to an ice cream at the hotel afterwards.

I’ve done south mountain and camelback in Phoenix so those are probably some of the ones you’re thinking of. Joshua tree would be interesting. I’ve done one there I think. Easy enough drive from Phoenix.

If utah and don't want to drive. Zion is probably the easiest and is a couple hours flying into Las Vegas. It's a great park with some wonderful hikes. From there if you want to drive a little further you can go to Bryce canyon. Both of those parks have plenty of loop trails around the 3 hour mark along like angels landing in zion. But I think you may need a permit now for that one.

Don't go to Death Valley or Joshua Tree until November.
It is the current year.

Yeah you are right, it looks like Camelback from pictures, my coworker drove us on a work trip.

I haven’t done any single 2-3 hour trail in Joshua Tree but a lot of trails merge. If you go to Alltrails.com and search there you can filter on loops and then look at estimated time etc.

My favorite scenery wise there is Hidden Valley, but its only like 25 minutes, beautiful though.

Weather doesn’t look bad this weekend. I’d go in the morning anyway. Not about to be the person that needs rescuing because I hiked when it’s 110 in the afternoon.

I don't mind short ones. I can do multiple.

This does not fit your 2-3 hour hike requirement but, if you love the desert....The Narrows in Zion National Park, from top-down (16ish miles and will take you all day). You will need to attain a permit to do this, but it is super easy to obtain. Research before you go, wear and/or rent the right equipment and watch the weather. This hike is certainly a bucket list level adventure, just don't die (bring friends).

Whereabouts in Europe Are you going? I’ve done hiking in Germany and UK.

Some other shorter hikes in Joshua tree with cool scenery is Skull Rock, which links to another trail across the road(forget name) and further down there is a couple trails near “the arch” and heart rock. Cool scenery and picture spots.

+ one for Zion, are you gonna stay in the west OP?

If you want something less populated there’s some rad ones in New Mexico with hot springs up around the caldera, I could dig them up.

Right now Budapest Prague and Zurich. Hiking planned on the outskirts of Zurich since it’s easy to get around by train and bus. Subject to change.

I’ll be solo but some day that looks awesome.

West is probably easiest flight wise but I’m open to anywhere. New Mexico is one of the few states I haven’t been so that could be another option.
