srsly.
I am a native Portuguese speaker (so it is "less dificul" for me to learn the other latin languages). However, it was easier to learn English than Italian. Obviously I am talking about the grammar. In terms of vocabulary it was easier to learn Italian (because a lot of words are extremely similar).
When it comes to French, it is even harder, for example.
English is a "direct" language. Probably one of the easiest languages to learn. How to learn English:
1. Learn the verbs to be and to have;
2. Learn the "negative form";
3. Learn the "interrogative form";
4. Memorize the dictionary.
5. Watch a lot of stuff in English.
Now if you are talking about "dominating" the language...like a native, every single language is difficult.

I have worked for multinational companies most of my life and people from other countries make a TON of mistakes, and I notice trends in errors thay make due to not learning exceptions

By "exceptions" (in English) you mean, for example, the irregular verbs? It wasn't that difficult to learn, if I remember correctly.
Plus, English do not have a lot of words to say the exact same thing or the exact same word so say multiple things (like in Portuguese, for example).
Now... I agree that foreign people make tons of mistakes. I do it everytime (especially if I am not paying attention to what I am doing, or if I just changed from a latin language to English).

In Portuguese, I can say a sentence in a way you would understand (if you know Portuguese but are not a native)...and then say the same sentence in a way that only natives would understand, for example.lots of slang
