It does help me to play a few of the same openings repeatedly to get more familiar with certain moves and positions.

Learn King Pawn vs King (pawn endgames in general is great to know)
Learn the fundamentals. Open with center pawns, get all knights and bishops out asap as well as castling in the process. Rooks and queen for endgame.
Don’t leave pieces hanging (undefended)
Practice tactics.
If you master endgame all you need to do is gain a small advantage, trade down evenly and finish with the endgame technique.
Don’t focus much on memorizing openings early on.
A guy named chessnetwork on youtube has a good beginner to masters series. I like him because he explains his thought process. He’s more of a positional player than tactical.

I play a little, but never ranked play. I’m no master, that’s for sure. I tend to have trouble once I’ve gained control of the board, and what’s left is chasing the king around with a couple pieces. I need more practice at solidifying the wins. I’ve gotten good at early board control, but that doesn’t mean much if you can’t bring home the win. :/

I'm 1700 on chess.com for rapid and daily games. I don't play blitz or bullet because I play while doing other things. I'm currently playing 21 daily games at a time.
1700 on lichess is like 1200 on chess.com. No hate, it's just how it is, lichess is softer and has in my opinion more cheaters.
