If I want to die I just don't hit the cross walk button. Sometimes I do it during rush hour.

First comes overwhelming life stressors and no healthy coping mechanism leading to depression andhopelessness

Then thoughts/ideation.. pervasive and uncontrollable in nature. Followed by acceptance of those thoughts ( they are not your own BTW)

Planning the details...

Putting those plans into action and then executing past the point of no return

I would advise against thinking about it and find reasons to live.

Where are you at in this timeline OP?

It takes a great amount of strength to know when we need to look to others for help. We dont know how long them thoughts been invading their mind, and plaguing their hearts. People who do it for attention should rot, legitimate suicidal ideation / execution is an acute emotional distress event that can usually be talked down by a family member, friend, or LE/mental health professional.

I just went through something like this a few days ago so for the Lord's sake, talk with a really close friend or family member who knows you . Some times all it takes is an outside perspective to see we have fallen into a negative feedback loop

I'd contrast and say e.x. Joe Snuffy tried to hang himself from the ceiling fan but it broke.

When you act like you tried to take your life just to see who cares and will reach out to you. I'm just guessing but that's what it seems like. Wouldn't know personally since I'm not an emotional beta ****g0t SRS

An attempt like anything else? Dude googles exactly how much of X drug is required in order to kill himself, he takes twice that amount along with 700ml bottle of vodka. Someone finds him and he gets taken to hospital and pumped out. He didn't die. He attempted to commit suicide.

Hope that clears things up OP

There's stronger Men than you and I that have killed themselves because they were in a bad way and it is stigmatized to get mental health treatment because of dumb chit like your last sentence

It can be 1 of 2 things.

The person faked as though they attempted to do it so they gain sympathy.

Or they just fukked it up by not taking enough pills, the noose they use to hang from breaks, they hold a gun up to their temple and shoot both their eyes out because they donโ€™t know where to aim it, cut their wrists but not enough to bleed out, jump from somewhere thatโ€™s not high enough to kill them, etc.

I volunteer at Kids Help Phone and there's four things we probe for when someone contacts us saying they are suicidal.

Thoughts - ie are you thinking about ending your life?
Method - have you thought about how you're going to do it?
Access - do you have access to the method you've thought about ie gun, pills, etc?
Timeline - do you have an active plan and time frame for carrying it out?

What you try to do is talk them back - like asking them to put the gun in another place while you calm them down.

Men are typically far more successful at actually doing it because they are better planners and don't tell anyone.

Not necessarily. My friend's uncle just killed himself using poison. An hour before it happened his family called the police because they were worried. He told them he was fine and doesn't know why they were worried. The police left and he ended it. If he would have done it sooner, they would have found him and potentially saved him. I don't think he expected the police visit, but it could have changed the outcome depending on his or their timing.

You try to kill yourself but don't succeed or follow through. I'm sure many people absolutely hesitate when it comes time to really go through with it. We do have an incredibly strong, deep-seated instinct to survive. Men are more likely to complete it successfully than women as men use more violent means to do so - i.e., gun, jumping off a high place, hanging, etc. Women are more likely to use non-violent means like overdosing, cutting, etc.

The whole situation of an individual pushed to that place is incredibly sad. Never forget that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
