Do people still bother buying blu-rays?
i've been wanting to get some of my favorite tv shows to own so that i don't have to rely on internet/streaming services to play them in the future. breaking bad, game of thrones, black sails, etc..
is blu-ray the preferred method or is there some kind of way to stream these without paying?
i already have torrented versions of these but want something i can view on my tv.

You can view digital downloads on your TV. Connect your phone or laptop to the TV, or put it on a USB stick and plug into TV or PVR, or digital media player.

you can just download whatever movie and even with 5.1 sound.
i havent bought a blue ray in a long time.
only exception i would make would be for a live concert that was good quality and cant find in downloads.

Got back into buying physical media again recently with no regrets. 4k hdr is pretty amazing on OLED and I like knowing I can pop in a disc rather than hunting for a lesser quality streaming option. Mainly I go for 4k but I've purchased a few blu-rays of favorites when 4k isn't available or the 4k has mediocre reviews like recently released Heat.

I buy Blu-Rays of the stuff I actually like. The way things are going they'll start trying to limit internet access/speeds in the name of climate change in the not too distant future.

Just put them on a USB and stick it in your TV.
Or if you're a nerd create a NAS, make your own Netflix.
And no I don't I used to like collecting my favourite movies on DVD/Blu-Ray but haven't bought physical media for a very long time. Torrents are just much more convenient, without even factoring in the price.
