TBH - been thinking about joining a country club. At least for the socializing. Probably a good way to find and grow new hobbies too?

People are willing to talk but you need to look non threatening to them, be somewhat attractive, and select an interesting topic.

Well, as I said, last night at a group dinner with the trainers from my gym we talked about how we did track and field in high school.

Then we talked about our kids and how they're starting school.

But they did bring up Netflix shows to watch

...oh this thread again.

I have more hobbies than I have time for.......I agree with you though....I mostly keep them to myself b/c 95% of people are boring AF and just dont understand.

Currently
-Remodeling/re-landscaping/new deck/pavers/firepit/stock tank pool in my back yard.....big project.
-Rebuilding/modding a 396 big block to eventually drop in something for hooning.
-Always woodworking of some sort
-Always have something to do around the house.
-I pick up the guitar for at least 15-20 minutes/day
-Starting to struggle to make it to the gym 2x/week....just too much to do/get done.
-Always reading something.....usually for 20-30 minutes laying in bed before sleep.

I watch like 20-30 minutes of tv/vids a day and it's usually 1 of the 4 people I follow on YouTube. Just lol at rotting.

My Dad coached track & field in high school and I coached tennis for a high school 10 years ago, so coaching is definitely in the family.

Hobbies are technically surrogate activities that attempt to fill the void in our existence left by not being required to fulfill the power process of exerting labor to provide food and shelter. Necessities being provided to us for zero practical effort other than obedience to industrial society, gives rise to popularity of surrogate activities as a coping mechanism for loss of meaning in life.

I’m curious brah, why do you hunt deer with a bow, as opposed to a firearm ?

Keep in mind that hunting is both sustainable, and as healthy as you can get.

A cow in a field going to a slaughterhouse has a terrible life compared to a deer that lives free and fair until I harvest it. And make no mistake, hunting for me isnt a dick measuring thing. Its about sustainable food, and the experience.

Feeling bad for the animals is good. Empathy means you are human. Killing is the worst part of hunting, which is why the aim is to make it as humane and painless as possible. I am an animal after all, and my bullet or arrow is almost instant. Compare that to a pack of wolves that can take hours and even sadly days to kill a deer or moose and I feel quite comfortable doing what I do.

Factory farming sucks ass, but its the fact that we are grossly overpopulating the earths carrying capacity that allows that. If you want kindness toward animals, focus your energy on limiting the expanding human population that creates the need to for animals to be raised as objects and treated like chit.

We are all hypocrites. Plowing a field kills an incredible number of critters. Keep in mind that things have been dying since life began, and everything that lives will die. What the difference if it dies to provide me life?

A piece of ground beef has a bunch of different animals in it, from who knows where.

The pasta on my desk right now has ground bear from a nuisance bear I got last fall. I killed it instantly, butchered, processed and cooked it myself.

Animal rights people often say that you shouldn't eat meat if you couldn't kill the cow. I completely agree.

Kill it, gut the animal, drag it out with your own muscle, hang it and buther it with your own hands and you will begin to understand how backwards going to mcdonalds for a thoughtless cheeseburger is.
