Why do a lot of Gen Z's and Astronauts say "Yessir"

It's kinda strange to me but I work with a few astronauts and gen z types, and they say Yessir like almost ironically. Is this something that the cool people are doing these days?

I've been hearing it a lot too srs. Not the standard usage of the word sir, but specifically "yessir" in a satirical way. It's not even a new way of saying it, because I've heard it used that way for a very long time, but for some reason, it's catching on and people are saying it more and more lately. I heard a fighter recently repeat it five or ten times in the span of a thirty-second interview.
