Follow my model catapult build (woodwork edition)

Time for another project boyos. As usual I don't really know what I'm doing, so I will make it up as I go along. I want it to be fully functional, beautiful and small enough to use indoors.

I've got these oak sides from an old radiogram I want to use. If they were one solid piece oak I wouldn't rip them down, but they're laminated so here we go..

I now have;

Four 22mm x 22mm
Four 16mm x 22mm
Four 10mm x 22mm
Plus the second side of the cabinet if I need more material.

I should be able to do something with this, I'll sketch up some plans and go from there.
Damn

In on catapult thread. Das it meng.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Thinking ahead to the wheels, I want something thin (thinner than the frame) and atleast 40mm wide so I can cut the 22mm wheels with a hole saw.

I look to my wood shelf -

Check in the oak offcut bin -

Perfect! It is 10mm thick and plenty wide enough.

The pilot drill is 6mm so I will use a 6mm axle - either the steel rods shown here in the pic or I will find some wooden doweling.

I'll draw up a rough sketch tonight (hopefully) to scale.

I'm workin' on it!

Heres my sketch (lol) roughly to scale

It's quite small (maybe too small?) About the same footprint as my S22. But the shipping will be cheaper this way if I decide to send it to one of you in the mail.

I'm still figuring out the firing mechanism. I want to use rope for tortion, true to the original. Maybe a winch of some kind, or maybe just a catch. Will update when I know more

Seems like Misc has so many guys here who are always complaining, moaning, whining about life - - - that they are bored, nothing to do, no purpose in life, clown world, depressed, etc, etc.

Then there is Jandels, who is ALWAYS up to some interesting project, posting pics of outdoors stuff, doing electronics, woodworking, and more.

You are (hopefully) an inspiration and motivation and EXAMPLE to many posters here.

Oh thanks for the kind words bro. Some guys do seem to have given up on life, I can't imagine what that feels like. I can't get enough.
