How did you meet your close/long term friends? 5 years+

I don't find it hard to make friends but a there's only a very small amount of friends I consider good friends
and even smaller subsection of those are good friends who aren't losers.

I'm talking about friends you've have had for many years, maybe even 5 or 10+

It's easy to be loose friends with some people but you can tell from the way they either treat others or how they act, you can't really trust them in a way you could with your closer friends.
The guys that I've stayed friends with I met either through gym or uni

I'm weird so I've never really had any friends.

I'd tried blending in when I was young, but it didn't work out - surprise surprise, pretending to be somebody else is not a sustainable long term living strategy.

I met my best friend when we were 13. We both loved the same band and became pen pals. She lived about an hour away and we met and instantly clicked. She's still the person I consider my best friend 40 years later. We don't see each other often because busy with life but I know that she is always there for me and I am always there for her if she needs me. I have another friend from middle school. The rest are from adulthood, they're more casual friends.

Never kept in touch with friends from school. Most of my closet friends now were met through friends/family.

I'm pretty quiet so I don't really meet a ton of people that often but I met one of my closest friends online during covid, some others through various clubs, etc.

I don't actually have any friends in my life who I've known for 5+ years since I'm relatively young.

others mostly through work or gym, though a change of work place and covid screwed up most of them as i usually meet them in the city after work

hard to nurture friendships if you don't meet within 2 years

It does kind of seem most miscers dont make their close friends after uni/college

unless everyone in this thread is early 20s
