I am convinced that ice baths are the way to the soul srs

I feel like a superhero when I leave. No negative thoughts. Just you, the struggle, and your breath. Anybody else do ice baths?

Damn I am at 15m and happy with that. It has taken quite some time to get even there let alone 45m.

Mirin. I've been doing them 2-3 times per week in my ghetto bathtub rendition of an icebath. 3 bags and in for about 15-20 min. Doesn't get THAT cold so I could go longer, but I want to make it gradually colder.

Just did a 10 mile run and hopped in the icebath. Left feeling like I could go another 10. Tons of dudes like Wim Hof who vouch for the practice.

Interesting

So just fill the tub up with cold water and throw some ice in?

Basically. For starters just throw about 15-20lbs of ice (2-3bags) and get in slowly. Wear swim trunks or something. 15 minutes is the sweet spot. It will take some time to build to it, but it feels incredible.

It forces you to work on your breathing so plenty of meditative benefits. Any life issues you may be thinking about before you hop in will be long forgotten when you're in. Good for the skin too. The reduced inflammation part is king though.

Can confirm, though I’m not as extreme as ice baths

Partly why I like winter so much, if you like cold showers

The temperature coming out of my tap at the shower can be as low as 50F during the winter. Put on a high output shower spout and you are freezing your ass off

Summer time the water is pretty cool, but not cold enough to get that “cold shock” response

to really max benefits you're supposed to get in quick. But seriously, if you do that in the bathroom you're asking to slip and it's gonna hurt. That's why you usually see people doing them in livestock tubs outside.

If inside, fill the tub with cold water, get in, add the ice. I usually leave one bag full and lean back to make sure my upper back and neck are on it

I've read about the psychological benefits in a Tim Ferris book. I've done cryotherapy. I should just do ice baths more.

I really don't know to be honest lol. I mainly do it for my knees down and upper body. Also probably because the first few icebaths I did were outside.

Honestly I might get one of those rolling industrial sized garbage cans and make my own setup. Chit has been lifechanging

Yeah that means its cold enough. If you don't have that "shock" feeling, it isn't cold enough or you are weening yourself in too slowly

The first 30 seconds or so is the worst part

And that shock feeling is a bodily response to sudden cold that you are trying to simulate. You only get the health benefits if you manage to trigger it, just being "cold" isn't enough
