Anybody have adjustable dumbbells and home gym recommendations?

I’m trying to avoid the modern day Tik Tok brocolli hair reality show gym scene and workout at home.


These buffflex ones look like a good deal for $400. They can go to 90 lbs. mirin. That’s all really need because only use 20lbs anyway because I want to be lean and not get big and bulky. Anyone have recommendations for home gym stuff like adjustable dumbells etc?

yes, I have PowerBlocks, had them for years and they saved my gains back when gym shut down for COVID, I chose them over the bowflex ones cuz they seemed more durable and compact and less awkward to use. have had good experience with them and they are as good as new so I recommend them

Thanks for the input guys. Those look very quality. It looks like I can get those bowflex ones though for $378 and pick up today if I pull the trigger. They normally come out to $900 from what I saw in the past

That seems like sick deal for 90 lbs…. What do?

I did a lot of research before I bought mine and Powerblocks are the way to go for ease of use as well as durability. There are others that are more aesthetic and slightly faster to switch between weights (think Nuobell) but you lose a LOT on the durability side with them. I don't want to be dealing with warranty claims or replacing broken equipment on the regular so being built to last is a high priority for me.

I have these as well, got them on sale right before Covid and got the add on to go up to 90lb each but also have an Olympic Squat Rack with Barbell and free-weights. Building a home gym was the best decision ever.No more waiting, searching for weights, and driving in traffic

yeah mine go up to to 90 lbs, another reason I originally chose them is the fact u can add on more weight later if u want unlike bowflex

I have the old school uncoated powerblocks that go up to 120lbs. I prefer it over that rubber coated ones that have that smell. Try to check your local area for used ones.

Looks like I can get the 90lb powerblocks for $720 on eBay. But but $378 bowflex…. Feels bad man. I gotta think about this. I know those powerblocks are quality though

Powerblocks are great. I have a EXP Set to 90. They will hold me over until I purchase the Pepin Fast Series dumbells (up to 130lbs) sometime next year.

For a bench - Rep Fitness AB3000 or AB3100 are excellent budget benches. I have the AB-4100, which is more, but it's an amazing bench.
6'1 - 240lbs

Already had the plate weight so just bought some loadable dumbbells for <$100
Would advise if you or anyone goes this route you will absolutely need collars for them as well.....unless you want an AVI like RICHSTRONG's

Whatever you do don't get the Bowflex ones. can't count on one hand how many broken sets I've come across, still have a wonky one that I gave to my brother to get rid of it, all marketing and very little in the way of quality.

I hear you, probably the best way to think about it is if it’s worth it to you to pay more now for a set u can probably use for the rest of your life vs less for ones that are more likely to break sooner, there’s pros and cons to both, either way you will make it brah!
