if they want to benefit minorities, i think they should target specific areas or categories like income levels that predominantly are those groups. It should never outright discriminate based on skin color though.

So as someone else said, if a white person wants to live in one of those neighborhoods for a no down payment mortgage, then go ahead. Not that is even much of a benefit to begin with.

That is what they are doing. The bank said borrowers do not need to be Black or Hispanic to qualify. Eligibility is based on borrower income and home location. I don't see this working. Maybe if they did something like 50 year mortgages people could obtain some equity in their house over time and pass it on to future generations but I don't think forgoing down payments will get us there.

I work in mortgages, 89% passing score my first time taking the NMLS exam. Look up the average first time score. You have a fantasy of black handouts that aren't real. It was everyone taking advantage of a relatively unregulated mortgage system.

That said, you brahs are calling out blatant racism without acknowledging the blatant racism that plagued the housing industry prior to fake wokeness. This was back when minorities had values & work ethic but still had to deal with redlining, adverse impact, and other hindrances. What's the big ****ing deal if they get 0% down with a 7.85% interest rate and stringent requirements? These programs have been around forever and aren't even good news for the borrowers who take them on....they come with a catch too, most can't even qualify for something desirable with these programs. It's less than a drop in the bucket when you consider the conversion rate for these programs.
