With the way things are going politically. And corporately I wanted to aware you fools on how you're being tracked and what you can do to stop it without much effort and impact. You can never stop it unless you fully go off the grid but thats not what this is about. This is just taking a few steps to harden yourself which comes with benefits.

Why should I care?

If you have to ask this GTFO. Seriously you're a sheep and wont benefit. You're the equivalent of Firearm FUDS. However here are the benefits:

- Companies not getting and selling your data (browsing habits, spending habits, etc.) to data brokers that then resell this data to any other company that pays. This matters because they develop a full psychological profile of you that they then weaponize against you to manipulate you.

- Law enforcement overstepping the 4th amendment by use of said data brokers above (https://www.eff.org/press/releases/d...-investigation)

- Right to privacy.

What to do?

Step 1: Harden your network. This will require usually a router like an ASUS so you will have to buy one if you don't have one.

- Install Diversion (https://diversion.ch/) Be sure to force Upstream DNS to something like 9Cloud and local to use Diversion.

- Install Skynet (https://github.com/Adamm00/IPSet_ASUS)

- Install OpenVPN Server (on the router using AsusWRT, and clients on your phone and any other device you use) If you don't know this allows you to basically use your own homes internet (which youve now hardened) from anywhere. Also allows you to access your files on your system or NAS.

These three alone will get rid of ads, trackers, and protect you against intrusions. You should do this regardless.

Step 2: Encrypt everything

-Use Veracrypt. Encrypt your system and any drives

Step 3: Install browser addons

- Ghostery
- Privacy Badger
- Adblock Plus
- Randomize Your User-Agent

Step 4: Backup everything

That's it. Continue life as normal. These don't require jumping through hoops every time you want to use the internet. Once setup its done. Its not foolproof but removes you from most tracking and fingerprinting. Enough to effectively make you unmarketable.

Thanks. Also I should mention even your ISP is selling your data. They do this by monitoring traffic and your DNS queries. So by changing your DNS on the router is helps to prevent them from knowing what websites you're going to. Really I would suggest using a VPN out so they really have no idea, but really that just moves the data to the VPN provider, which are probably also selling your data. So just using diversion to use third party upstream DNS like Cloud9 is best. Although technically you could use that DNS provider with your VPN. Anyway thats going too far down the rabbit hole.

Also FOR ****S SAKE dont use your ISPs provided router or modem. I bought my own modem and use an Asus router. Their modems/routers are basically just spyware in hardware form.

I should also add another good thing is seperate out all our online accounts into different passwords and email addresses. This is A LOT more involved. This is more for security but also has the added benefit of making it harder for companies tracking all your accounts by one or two email addresses.

So HOW do you do this without having to login to 50 different email accounts. EazyPZ. Use a alias service like SimpleLogin. You create an alias for each type of login you have (or with paid version you can make one for each account separately) like social media, bills, etc. So you link all these alias emails (example:bills@simplelogin.com) back to your real email. Dont use gmail.

So all the following alias email addresses all go back to your real email:

bills@simplelogin.com
socialmedia@simplelogin.com
gaming@simplelogin.com
friends@simplelogin.com

to

realemail@provider.com



You can reply back to the email that is sent to your real email and it will show as having been sent from each separate alias address. So to everyone else they all look like real seperate email accounts but its just relaying your emails.

Now for passwords just use a password manager like bitwarden or lastpass. Bitwarden is fully free and works really well. You could also use a locally stored password manager like KeePassXC but then you have to be responsible for keeping that file secure. And YES each one needs to be a seperate password.

I've been using several email addresses for years. A lot of old forums that I'm on still have my email from an old ISP back when I had dial up.

For new email accounts, Protonmail has the easest sign up and does not as for a phone number or another email for verification. I was about 5 minutes setting that one up.

Yes but this isnt about preventing a govt law enforcement agency from directly snooping on you. Its about preventing you from being marketable to data brokers by fragmenting your online presence. And in the process help prevent some of your data from getting into law enforcements hands illegally through data brokers. It can take a good bit of setup but once done will minimally impact your day to day if at all.
