How did we get in the clown world?

Everywhere I go people don't talk about anything but muh politics netflix or video games. Or a social media app. Everyone has the same holy than thou personality. Go places and everyone just doing the minimum. No sense of community. Everyone hunched over looking at screens. How did it get like this? I remember pre 2015- 2016 it wasn't like this.
